Shinjuku, 1st Block	Mastema

Begin The Serpent King subquest by heading towards the Dragon Cave in Shinjuku, 1st Block and talking with Mastema to accept the subquest.

Progress the Story Until You Reach Empyream

You will first need to progress the main storyline until you reach Empyrean, the last area in the game. After you've defeated the boss, The Serpent King subquest will be unlocked.

How to Complete The Serpent King

Unlock the Serpent King Subquest by Reaching Empyrean

After you've reached Empyrean in the main storyline, head towards Shinjuku, 1st Block and talk with Mastema to start the Serpent King subquest.

Defeat Samael in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

After you've accepted the subquest, head towards the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and approach Samael to begin the battle.

Do note that Samael is at level 88, so your party should be optimized in terms of items, skills, and demons recruited.

Win the Boss Battle to Unlock Samael's Fusion

Defeat Samael so that you could unlock his Special Fusion. If the option for his Special Fusion does not appear, it may be caused by the lack of demon components in your compendium.

Inherit Abyssal Mask

Samael will unleash all sorts of attacks that deal status ailments to your party. It is recommended that you have your character inherit Abyssal Mask so that you'll reduce the chances of acquiring a status ailment.

Demons With Abyssal Mask

Remove Status Ailments Immediately

If you've acquired status ailments from Samael throughout your battle, his innate skill will enhance his attacks to a greater degree and cause you to lose much of your HP.

When struck with a status ailment, it is best to recover from it using Me Patra, Amrita Shower, or Amrita Soda so that you'll avoid being incapacitated in battle.

During the first round and the time that follows after he casts Magatsuhi, Samael will summon Naamah, Eisheth, Agrat, and Lilith in that order.

If there are two or more of his minions in the field, then they will acquire buffs from each other that are supplemented by their innate skills. Prevent this by prioritizing the defeat of each minion summoned in battle.

Recruit Strong Demons During the Battle

The battle will be long and difficult at best, given Samael's abundant pool of HP. It is recommended that you recruit demons who are up to the task of fighting with you against Samael.
