How to Beat Trumpeter

Best Demons to Use Against Trumpeter

Bring Demons with Physical and Almighty Skills

Since Trumpeter resists or nulls everything but Physical damage, the player is forced to either use Physical or Almighty skills. Luckily by the time you reach level level 73, there are several demons that are solid candidates to cover this role.

Bring Demons with Debuffs

Any buffs you use will be negated by Trumpeter's Dekaja, so instead, focus on debuffing Trumpeter. Bring a demon that knows Debilitate like Mithra to lower all enemy stats by 1 stage.

Using buffs like Luster Candy may be useful if you use them at the start of the turn. Also you can force Trumpeter to waste an action casting Dekaja, but the MP cost is quite high. Using less expensive buffs is advised if this is the strategy you are going for.

Bring Demons with Mediarahan

Since Trumpeter's attacks aside from Evil Melody all target the entire party, it's important to have a healer with Mediarahan to fully heal the party when needed. If Trumpeter insta-kills one of your party members with Evil Melody be sure to have either Samarecarm or revival items ready as well.

Use Physical or Almighty Skills

Trumpeter has no elemental weakness, but he is neutral toward Physical attacks, and Almighty Skills bypass elemental affinities entirely. Focus on using these two skill types to maximize your damage output.

Focus on Debuffs

Trumpeter's elemental attacks can hit hard, so minimize the damage you take by using skills like Debilitate or Matarunda. Additionally, since Trumpeter can use Dekaja which negates all foes buffs, buffing your party is not particularly useful unless you are hoping for Trumpeter to waste an action casting Dekaja.

Donum Gladi and Donum Magici are exceptions to this as they can be used to their full potential before the party's turn ends.

Cover Elemental Weaknesses with Passive Skills

Before entering this boss battle, it's highly recommended to cover your desired party members' elemental weaknesses by having them inherit passive skills, such as Null Fire or Resist Fire. This will make the fight much more manageable, but be aware that Trumpeter's Evil Melody and Megidolaon are still a threat.

Use Mediarahan to Fully Heal the Party

Trumpeter's attacks mostly target all party members, so make sure to have a healer that has access to Mediarahan to ensure that all party members can survive through the fight. This does cost a lot of MP though, so be sure to bring some MP recovery items if needed.

Having access to Samarecarm is also recommended in case an ally gets hit with Evil Melody, but it's not required if you choose to rely on revival items instead.
