SMTVV - Godborn Mode Banner

This is a guide to the new New Game Plus mode, Godborn, available in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (SMT V). Read on to learn how to unlock it, the perks and feature exclusive to Godborn, and what carries over to your new save file.

How to Unlock Godborn Mode

Beat the Game Once

To unlock Godborn mode, you have to finish Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance once, on the either the Canon of Creation path with the True Neutral Ending, or the Canon of Vengeane with the Law or Chaos ending.

Canon of Creation True Neutral Ending Requirements
Khonsu
•　The Falcon’s Head
•　The Egyptians’ Fate
•　The Winged Sun
•　The Succession of Ra 		Spare Khonsu to unlock The Succession of Ra subquest.
Fionn mac Cumhaill
•　A Goddess Stolen
•　The Root of the Problem
•　The One I Love
•　An Unusual Forecast
•　Fionn’s Resolve
 Complete these quests to progress through Fionn's questline.
Shiva
• A Universe in Peril You need to be at least Level 80 to access this subquest.

After completing the quests listed, you will be given the choice to Create a World for Humanity Alone on top of Empyrean.

Complete the Canon of Vengeance until the Final Boss

If you finished the Canon of Creation True Neutral ending, you will have to start the game again and go through the Canon of Vengeance path now. Play until the final boss, save your game and make your way to the Shinjuku 1st block leyline. Mastema will be waiting for you to give you the subquest, The Serpent King, which involving beating the demon, Samael.

Endings Guide To Shin Megami Tensei V

Beat Samael and Report Back To Mastema

After beating Samael, report back to Mastema and he will give you the subquest, The Great Adversary, which unlocks the fight with Satan.

Beat Satan and the Final Boss

After beating Satan and the final boss of the Canon of Vengeance, you will be able to pick Godborn mode among the other NG+ modes.

Godborn Perks and Features

Increase Level Cap to 150

As mentioned, Godborn Mode increases the level cap to 150 through the Miracle, Moral Transcendance. This Miracle costs 999 Glory so be ready to grind a lot of Glory for it.

How to Farm Glory

Unlocked Balms and Incenses in Cadaver's Hollow

Along with the increased level cap, Gustave will sell stat-increasing items like Balms, Sutras and Incenses to you. This can help you jumpstart your build for the Nahobino and your demons for the increased difficulty of the game.

What is Godborn Mode?

Godborn Mode is a NG+ mode that unlocks after defeating Satan in a New Game Plus save file. This allows you and other demons to reach Level 150, allowing for a more challenging run through the game. We recommend veterans to run this mode if you wish to spice up a new run.
