In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (SMT V) Stats determine a character's strengths and weaknesses in battle, separate from their Elemental Weaknesses and Resistances. Learn what each stat means, what they affect, and how to increase your stats to max out your characters!
List of Contents
Stat | Priority Rating |
---|---|
Strength | ★★★★★ |
Vitality | ★☆☆☆☆ |
Magic | ★★★★☆ |
Agility | ★★★☆☆ |
Luck | Magic: ★☆☆☆☆ Physical: ★★★☆☆ |
We recommend pooling majority of your stats into Strength or Magic to progress the game. If you wish to specialize in physical moves, choose Strength as your main stat. If you wish to use elemental attacks to hit weaknesses, choose Magic as your main stat.
Many of the Nahobino's unique skills coming from the Aogami Husks are Strength-based moves so we ultimately recommend to build a Physical-leaning Nahobino.
A new skill called Heavenly Ikuyuni from the Aogami Type-D Essence allows Nahobino to use Magic based builds in the late game. Do note, however, that this can be worse than Murakumo since the damage scaling is reliant on the amount of debuffs on the enemy.
In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, they introduce the New Testament Tablet that allows player to redistribute stat points gained through levelling up or through Demon Haunt conversations with Aogami. This allows players to tweak their builds and stat distributions in the event that they wish to try out a new playstyle in the middle of the game.
The base game of SMT V does not feature the New Testament Tablet or any other way to redistribute stat points in the game. Make sure to plan your build accordingly!
Stat | Definition |
---|---|
Strength | Increases the damage of attacks with the physical attribute. |
Vitality | Reduces damage received from enemy attacks. |
Magic | Increases damage of magic attacks. |
Agility | Determines the success rate of escaping battles, your chance to hit when attacking, and your chance of evading when attacked. |
Luck | Improves chance-based results to being in your favor. |
The Luck stat in Shin Megami Tensei V increases chances of inflicting Critical hits, chances of Ailments and Instakill abilities (Light and Dark skills), and affects the drop rate of items post-battle.
Below the Conditions section, players will be able to find the Resistances section, which shows a characters Elemental strengths and weaknesses. Below each Elemental icon, there will be an indication of whether a character is resistant, weak, or neutral to a particular element.
These will show whether or not a character, once hit by an Elemental attack, will resist, be greatly affected, or simply receive normal damage from such an attack.
The Conditions section of a character's information sheet denotes a character's current status on the field. This section includes the character's current HP (Health) and MP (Mana). These condition stats do not replenish outside of combat unless you use an item.
Stat | Definition |
---|---|
HP | A character's Health – once it reaches zero, a character will be K.O.d until revived. |
MP | The pool of Mana a character has remaining, which governs over their ability to cast Skills in combat. |
Upon leveling a character up, you will receive a point (shown beside the Stats header in the character info screen) that you can spend on any stat to increase its value by one (or more if multiple points are available).
These points are specific to the character that has leveled up and cannot be shared between characters. This means that if you want a powerful team, you will need to level up each Demon separately.
At certain points in the story, Aogami will ask to have a conversation with you in Demon Haunt. After recapping recent events, he will give you three stat points to distribute to your Nahobino. Make sure to use these points wisely!
Throughout the game, you will receive balms either through enemy drops, or throught treasure chest or quest rewards. Balms allow the player to raise a specific stat of Nahobino's instantly so make sure to use these items wisely.
As your demons level up, they will randomly gain a stat upgrade. There's no guarantee on which demon will earn what stat so it is up to RNG.
Throughout the game, you will receive incenses either through enemy drops, or throught treasure chest or quest rewards. You will also gain the ability to buy incenses through trading with Attis or Queen Medb. Incenses allow the player to raise a specific stat of a demon instantly so make sure to use these items wisely.
Your demons can ask you to have a conversation with in Demon Haunt. They can raise their stats randomly, among the possibilities of learning a new skill or raising skill potential on an affinity.
