Battle System Explained | Press Turn System Guide |
The Press Turn System is a turn based combat system that rewards the player for exploiting the weaknesses of enemies. If you successfully hit an enemy with the damage type they are weak to, your party will gain an extra turn. The same effect can be achieved by landing a Critical Hit.
Be aware that enemies operate under these same rules, so if you or an ally gets hit with an elemental weakness, the enemy party will receive an extra turn.
The turn icons, found on the top right of the screen, indicate the number of actions that can be taken per turn. Once all of your Turn Icons have been used, the phase will swap to the enemy turn. Players have multiple ways to increase the number of actions their party can take per turn.
Each character in your party (including yourself) counts as one Turn Icon. You can have up to a total of 4 party members.
Because of the Press Turn system, several actions can give you an advantage by providing your team with extra turns. The maximum amount of extra turns you can get per phase is based on your total Turn Icons. Below are the following examples of ways to gain extra turns in battle.
Actions | Efect |
---|---|
Using Skills Effective Against Demons |
• Increases the amount of damage done by the skill. • Grants one additional turn if applicable. |
Landing Critical Hits |
• Increases the amount of damage done by the skill • Grants one additional turn if applicable. |
Passing a Character's Turn |
• Passes the action phase to the next teammate. • Grants one additional turn if applicable. |
Magatsuhi skills are a new feature in SMT V. By building up the Magatsuhi meter, characters will be able to use unique skills that can buff the party or deal direct damage.
These skills will not consume a turn when used and will let you take another action on the same character. Keep in mind that the Magatsuhi meter will carry over per battle, so plan accordingly!
