To The Empyrean Main Quest Guide

To The Empyrean is the 18th quest in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (SMT V). Read on for a full walkthrough in Temple of Eternity including all objectives, all bosses, tips and strategies, decisions in this area, and all obtainable demons, essences, and items!

1	Enter the temple and register the leyline fount of Temple: 1F Entry
2	Head north and register the leyline fount of Temple: 1F Corridor Passing through a red gate freezes time while passing through a green gate resumes time. You can also break the demons' formation to get past the demon blockade.
3	Follow the path south to reach the temple's second floor
4	Register the leyline fount of Temple: 2F Entry then head north to the fount of Temple: 2F Corridor
5	Follow the path southwest to reach the temple's third floor
6	Register the fount of Temple: 3F Entry then head north to the fount of Temple: 3F Corridor
7	Proceed through the next maze and head south to reach the fount of Temple: 3F Passage
8	Go south to enter another maze and exit to its east side to reach the temple's fourth floor
9	Register the leyline fount of Temple: Main Hall and prepare for the boss fight
10	(CoC) Walk past the fount and defeat Metatron Herald Metatron will be available for fusion after the battle. Also, remember to save your progress as the next part is where you'll decide the ending. ▶ Metatron boss fight guide

11	Enter the next room, watch the cutscenes, and make your choice

To The Empyrean Choices and Alignment

There are no ending choices for Canon of Vengeance

Route	Story Choices
Tao Route (Law)	Select all story options at the top and agree with Tao's mindset throughout the story.
Yoko Route (Chaos)	Select all story options at the bottom and agree with Yoko's mindset throughout the story.

In the Canon of Vengeance route, there is no ending choice at the end. Instead, the ending is determinded by who you choose to side with between Tao and Yoko. Throughout the story, you will also be given several times to choose between options that appeal to either Tao or Yoko. What you select during these times will determine your alignment.

A choice event will trigger after defeating Metatron at the top of the Temple of Eternity. What you choose will decide the story's ending so it is highly advised that you save your progress after beating Metatron if you want to see all the possible endings.

How to Get All Endings

You'll get bonus rewards depending on your alignment

Your choices throughout the game will affect what you get after making the decision at the top of the Temple of Eternity. Your final alignment will depend on what choice you picked the most in the past choice events.

If your choices throughout the story don't match your final choice, a quest NPC in the Empyrean will charge you 660,000 Macca before you can advance Michael and Belial's subquests.

This NPC will not charge you any Macca and you will get a Miracle from Tao (depending on your alignment) if your decision matches with your current alignment on your playthrough's route.

To The Empyrean General Tips

Passing Through Time Gates

You will find gates inside the Temple of Eternity that can manipulate time. Passing through a red gate stops time while passing through a green gate unfreezes it.

While time is frozen, you won't be able to interact with doors, treasure boxes, and demons. You can use this trick to get past the groups of demons blocking the way if you want to avoid fighting them.

Luring Demons

You can also lure the demons out of their formation so you can get through. Walk to a demon close enough for it to attack you then dodge the attack. Repeat these steps until you make a gap wide enough to slip through then run past the group.

Metatron

Recommended Level: 78
Tips and Strategy
Bring demons with Physical, Dark, or Almighty attacks Uses mostly Light and Almighty skills Bring Light Dampeners

Metatron has no weaknesses and is resistant to every type except for Physical and Dark. Bring demons with strong Physical, Dark, or Almighty skills like Kali, Futsunushi, and Seth. You'd also want to make sure that your team is resistant to Light since Metatron's damaging skills are either Light or Almighty.

Use a Light Dampener when Metatron starts gathering Magatsuhi to block the Mahamabarion that follows.

How to Beat Metatron

Dazai and Abdiel

Recommended Level: 80
Tips and Strategy
Bring demons that counter Dark, and Fire attacks Prioritize killing Dazai first. Bring Physical Dampeners

Dazai specializes in Fire attacks and Abdiel specializes in Dark attacks. Bring demons like Sraosha and Agrat to counter them and bring them down quickly.

Dazai can inflict your party with troublesome status ailments so make sure to take him down quickly with Ice for an easier fight.

Use a Physical Dampener when the enemies starts gathering Magatsuhi to block Abdiel's attack that follows. Dazai will use a Fire attack if he's still alive to gather Magatsuhi.
