Lost Towers are core Atlas maps used to lighten up foggy areas within its vicinity. To activate them, players must use a Waystone to enter one and proceed through the map until they reach the end, where a Precursor Beacon lies. Interacting with the beacon activates and completes the Lost Tower.
The next time players open the Atlas map, the fog within the completed Lost Tower's vicinity disappears, further revealing the area. Players should note that they do not have to kill every monster or rare monster to complete the tower and can simply rush toward and activate the Precursor Beacon.
Once players complete a Lost Tower, they can open their Map Device, click on the completed Lost Tower, and place a Precursor Tablet into the open slot. When they click the Influence button, the Precursor Tablet's modifiers get applied to all the maps within the tower's range.
For example, if players place a Ritual Precursor Tablet, then seven uncompleted maps within the tower's range will have a Ritual mechanic. Players should note that they can only use one Precursor Tabler per completed Lost Tower.
Precursor Tablet Effects and How to Get
To know the range of each Lost Tower, players can hover over it in the Atlas to reveal a large, circular, fiery ring around it. Anything within the circle is considered the Lost Tower's range.
On another note, players have reported bugs wherein a tower's range ring would not appear while hovered or disappear when not hovered. As of the 0.1.1 patch, these bugs still seem to occur.
Currently, there are five types of Lost Towers which players can encounter in the Atlas, four of which were recently added in the 0.1.1 patch.
The Lost Tower, commonly found in the Forest biome, consists of several connecting towers and bridges. It has two levels, with a flight of stairs connecting the two. The first level houses all the monsters, while the second contains the Precursor Beacon.
The Mesa, commonly found in the Desert biome, is a vast desert characterized by red sand and rocks, cactuses, gorges, ravines, and overhanging cliffs. It only has one level but with multiple elevations, and the Precursor Beacon is located at a narrow, elongated cliff edge.
Bluff, commonly seen in the Grass biome, is a rocky mountain surrounded by flora and fauna consisting of a continuous, explorable path with little branching pathways. Players can find its Precursor Beacon on the mountain peak at the end of the path.
The Sinking Spire, commonly found in the Swamp biome, is a sinking Vaal temple that has a similar structure to the Temple of Kopec, but with open walls and an infestation of moss and vines.
It consists of four levels, with each floor connected by a staircase and the Precursor Beacon on the fourth floor.
The Alpine Ridge, commonly found in the Mountain biome, is a mountain ridge consisting of a combination of lush, flat, and spacious areas and long and narrow stone paths connecting these areas. It has a single level with multiple elevations, with the Precursor Beacon placed at the area's highest point.
