Inside a Chest in Fort Gael

You can obtain this weapon from inside a chest found within Fort Gael.

Once you reach the entrance to Fort Gael, go past it and head to the right. Follow the tree roots and you'll find a ladder that takes you to an area above the Lion Guardian prowling below.

Walk across the long beam and drop down to the door above the Lion Guardian's area. Inside will be a chest with the katar.

How to Use Katar

Scales with Dexterity and Strength

The Katar scales primarily with Dexterity and requires a bit of Strength to use. It is a Dexterity-based weapon and leveling up this stat will increase the amount of physical damage it can do. The Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom can further increase the damage of your attacks by raising your Dexterity.

The default scaling of this weapon can be improved or altered to better scale with your attributes by using whetblades.

High Critical Damage Weapon

This weapon has the default move set for Fist type weapons which include fast normal attacks capable of easily stun locking enemies and piercing strong attacks. Compared to the other weapons in the same category, the Katar's critical attacks deal high damage making it an ideal weapon for critical strikes.

Equipping a shield that can parry or powerstancing it with a weapon that can break an enemy's poise is a good combo to open them up for critical attacks. The damage of these attacks can be increased further with the Dagger Talisman

Infusable with Ashes of War

This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War and is equipped with Impaling Thrust as its default weapon skill. It allows the user to unleash a powerful forward lunging thrust that can pierce through an enemy's defenses.

Its fast attacks can easily apply status effects such as Hemorrhage, Frost, and Poison are recommended affinities for an additional damage source.
