This is a guide to the best Fighter build in Avowed. Read on to learn the best stats, skills and abilities, weapons, and armor to get in order to create a powerful Fighter build.

For Fighter builds in Avowed, prioritize Might and Resolve. Might boosts weapon damage, while Resolve provides stamina, fueling consistent damage output. Dexterity is crucial for attack speed, significantly increasing DPS, even with slow weapons like Great Hammers.
Constitution is important for survivability, but prioritize it over Dexterity only if you're dying frequently. The Toughness Fighter ability has better bang for buck in increasing HP than just pumping points into Constitution.
Perception increases Critical Hit Chance, resulting in significant damage spikes. When paired with Critical Hit-boosting abilities, it becomes even more valuable as the game progresses. Lastly, since we focus on melee attack damage, Intellect is less important. If other stats are capped, a few Intellect points can provide extra Essence and elemental resistance.

Charge and the Barbaric Shout taunt are our main active abiltities early on, highly useful in the opening engagements of fights.
The rest of the passives picked here greatly boost what we need to make a strong frontline fighter, focusing on learning how to Parry, boosting HP and recovery, increasing stamina, and raw damage.

Note: If you want to prioritize using a Shield over a Two Handed Weapon, take Shield Bash at Level 6, before Barbaric Shout.
By Level 15, your Fighter should have a solid foundation. Beyond this point, you'll gain powerful passives that further enhance your strength, or add utility, including:
By Level 20, you gain access to two powerful Active Abilities to round out your Fighter:

Loadout 2 | One Handed Weapon | Shield |

A Two-Handed weapon offers a more aggressive playstyle, prioritizing swinging more often and shrugging off damage while still parrying occasionally, using Great Swords, Great Axes, and Great Hammers.
On the other hand, a One-Handed weapon with a Shield emphasizes blocking more frequently while still delivering high DPS. Swords and Axes are the best options for DPS, but Maces can be great for stun build-up focus.
For Two Handed Weapon types, Great Swords generally outperform the other options, as they offer the highest DPS and easiest handling. You can get the Philosopher's Riddle, a powerful Unique variant that you can find very early on.
Alternatively, you can also grab the Seven Strivings for an early Unique upgrade, if you want to try a solid Great Axe as well.
Swords are your best bet for One Handing overall, similar to its Great Sword equivalent. The Last Light of Day is the most powerful Unique sword you can get early, restoring health for each kill and dealing fire damage.
If you want to try a Unique Axe that has frost damage instead, find the Drawn in Winter Axe that you can also get early on.
Throughout the game, certain shields excel in both defense and utility. The Unflinching Duty can be acquired very early, and its huge +20 Stamina boost is quite helpful, especially in the beginning.
Heavy Armor is the clear choice for frontline fighters, with good Unique pieces with Enchantments that complement this build's playstyle. Here are good ones you can get early on:

---|---|
Boots | Gloves |
Prioritize boots that enhance your Stamina to maximize your combat effectiveness.
You want Gloves that mainly boost your offensive output. Some also reduce blocking stamina costs and improve parries, useful when needing to block more.
Best Accessories for Fighters | |

Rings | Amulets and Trinkets |
Bitter Bonding gives you early lifesteal, allowing you to fight and use fewer healing items or abilities. As you progress, add on rings that increase attributes and damage.
The Enchanted Suolenet is obtainable early in the game, and acquiring it as soon as possible is highly recommended. This allows for increased gold accumulation while looting in Dawnshore.
Before engaging in combat, consider swapping it out for Trinkets or Amulets that enhance Fighter attributes such as:
