• Comes with two healing abilities that can actively and passively heal allies. • Also packs a shielding ability that can negate damage if used properly and can be upgraded to heal. • Has an attack speed and movement speed buffer ability. |
Giatta excels as the best companion in the game due to having three of the most powerful supportive abilities out of any companion's arsenal, making her a must-have especially in high difficulty.
Purification can be upgraded to increase her healing and even provide crowd control, and Barrier can be upgraded to become both a shielding and healing ability.
Giatta Best Abilities and Outfits
Companion | Overview |

• Functions as the team's tank, soaking up damage and taunting enemies with his abilities and keeping them away from the Envoy. • Comes with a Second Wind passive to revive himself once. |

• Slots into the team as the premier Crowd Controller with his Binding Roots, able to keep entire groups of enemies locked down. • Can deal good single-target and DoT damage. |
![]() |
• Functions as a secondary DPS in your team, bringing AoE ranged magic damage and is especially useful for melee players. • Also comes with a light way to Crowd Control enemies in the form of a Slowing Hex. |
The rest of the companions in Avowed are considered situational since their use case varies depending on how early or late you are into the game, as well as your general playstyle and build.
Warrior Party Companions | |

When playing a warrior, you would want to have some form of Crowd Control to keep enemies locked down so you can unleash your combos on them, and a healer to keep you topped off on HP as you will be tanking damage.
Marius keeps enemies locked down with Binding Roots and Giatta provides the team with emergency healing using her Purification, as well as passive healing with Reconstruction, ensuring that the Envoy can stay in the enemy's face and maintain their combo.
Can Swap Marius For |

By Late Game, you will likely be able to acquire the bleed passive that the warrior tree has access to, as well as using a strong two-handed weapon that deals a large amount of stun.
When you reach this point, Marius' bleed and root become inefficient as you can outpace and outdamage him, allowing you to swap out Marius for Yatzli for the extra damage she brings, closing out fights faster.
Mage Party Companions | |

In most scenarios, Mages will be at range away from direct hits and heavy damage from enemies, letting them focus in on their spells and arsenal.
Kai is mainly used for his taunts, particularly Fire and Ire to keep aggressive enemies away from you, and Giatta is here to keep the team topped up on HP, shields, and buff your attack speed.
Can Swap Giatta For |

![]() |
While this comes at the cost of survivability, you can swap out Giatta for Yatzli for more damage as lower difficulties are easier for the player to maneuver.
Ranger Party Companions | |
---|---|
![]() |

As a Ranger, you will be at a distance away from most fights at first, keeping enemies away while you whittle them down and prepare to switch to melee to close in for the kill.
Kai's main strat here is to use Leap of Daring to charge into the fight and gather up enemies. This is comboed with Marius' Binding Roots to keep them crowd controlled after the taunt expires.
Can Swap Marius For |

Consider swapping out Marius for Giatta for the comfortable survivability and sustain she brings, especially at high difficulty.
Even with access to Parries and Ranged attacks, Giatta still provides a significant safety net that can allow you to soak up damage, letting you swap into melee early to join Kai in the fight.
