Don't Look Down Walkthrough

Should You Kill Katoa?

Kill Katoa and Haiako For Items

If you choose to attack Katoa and Haiako and defeat them grant you the Exceptional Great Sword and Exceptional Leather Cuirass along with other items from looting their corpse.

Killing them is a good choice because their items are valuable and you can sell their weapons for a decent amount of money. While the gear may not be useful, the additional gold from selling can be used to purchase better equipment or supplies later in the game.

Convincing Katoa and Severing the Adra Will Kill Them

If you choose to convince Katoa to stop his plans but choose to sever the adra during Shadows of the Past, Katoa and Haiako will die anyway. They will disappear from the game, and you will not be able to encounter them again for the rest of your playthrough.

Convince Katoa and Destroy the Ruins to Keep Them Alive

If you’re aiming for a pacifist playthrough where you kill as few people as possible, you can spare Katoa and Haiako by convincing them to back down. Then, during Shadows of the Past, you must choose to destroy the ruins.

Katoa and Haiako will then block your way as you try to enter Galawain’s Tusks. If you tell them that you just saved their lives, they will let you through without a fight.

Don't listen to this guide! Convince them to stand down. 2 items that aren't that valuable vs. Future interaction with these 2. Plus they had every right to setup those traps after the steel garrote attacked fior (or attempted pending on your playthrough).
