Poison builds prioritize two to three stats: Might to increase the overall damage you deal, Intellect for the essence needed to spam the Poison spells, and Perception to help with critical hits that deal poison damage.
Poison builds rely on as much Poison Accumulation spells, abilities, and buffs as possible, meaning we will need to invest into the Wizard and Ranger Skill trees to gain access to Poison Accumulation spells and passives.
These prioritize abilities like Corrosive Siphon, Spirit of Decay, and Blackbow from the Wizard tree, and Tanglefoot from the Ranger tree.

After Level 20, you can look to level Pull of Eora to rank 2 for use with your Grimoire, and try to unlock and max out a utility skill like Arcane Seal.

For a Poison build, you need to pick weapons that contribute to your Poison Accumulation. The first weapon
you must prioritize is the Vindictive Band ring that makes Critical Hits deal Poison Damage. You can focus on getting your main weapons after getting this accessory.
You will particularly be searching for The Philosopher's Riddle for your Great Sword, the Star of Unbeing for your Mace, and an upgraded Grimoires of Entropy for your Grimoire.
Fortunately, the best Great Sword for a poison build, The Philosopher's Riddle, can be found as early as Dawnshore. Its passives boost Attack Speed and Poison Damage, making it a perfect fit for this build. Though it would take a lot of investment, it is recommended to upgrade this up to Legendary.
Before investing time and effort into looking for a weapon, it is important to note that you must get Vindictive Band in the Cabin Fever Side Quest in Dawnshore. This will be your first weapon
early on because the passive makes your critical hits deal Poison damage.

Star of Unbeing can be found in Shatterscarp during the Shadows of the Past Main Quest. This is the best-in-slot for this build for its high Poison Accumulation. Additionally, it has a special passive that casts Pull of Eora after doing a Special Attack. Ideally, you would want to build a lot of Stun to constantly proc the Special Attack passive.

The Grimoire of Entropy, found as early as Emerald Stair, is the best Grimoire for this build because of its Poison Spells and CC. You can get the Grimoire early and the strength of the spells does not scale with the weapon's quality, so the weapon itself does not need much investment.

How to Get Grimoire of Entropy
When working with a Poison build, there are no Armors in the game that offer direct buffs to Poison damage or accumulation, allowing you to swap into any stat-based armors that give you more overall damage or utility armors to keep you alive. Since you will mostly be within melee range, you generally want a Medium or Heavy armor for extra damage reduction.

Boots | Gloves |
Most of your clothing choices for your Poisoner build will come to using Gloves that boost your attributes and eventually boost your Poison damage, and Boots that give damage bonuses and extra stats.
As for boots, none provide specific buffs for Poison, so invest in boots that give additional attributes, stamina, or movement bonuses. More attributes allow you to respec later on to better allocate your points.

Best Accessories for Poisoners | |
---|---|
Rings | Amulets and Trinkets |
For amulets, trinkets, and rings, you will want to get stat bonus accessories until you can get access to poison-specific or damage accessories.
Your main rings to look out for are the Vindictive Band for Poison damage on Critical Hit, and Ring of Pain Amplification for the extra Critical Damage.
Your main Trinket of choice is the Poisoner's Kit, which will boost your overall Poison damage. However, you can also use anything else that gives more attributes or Critical Hit Chance.
