Speak with Captain Cynric

At the Paradis docks, meet Militia Captain Cynric just outside of Claviger’s Landing. Speak with her and Kai, who stands beside her. This is when Kai joins you as your companion.

Find the Strangleroot

From Claviger’s Landing, travel north until you come across a cave covered in tangled roots, known as The Strangleroot. You’ll hear mysterious voices as you approach the cave.

Note that when you enter The Strangeroot, your fast travel will be disabled.

Burn the Brambles Blocking the Strangleroot

Enter the cave until you encounter brambles blocking your path. Use Command on Kai and choose Firestarter so he can burn the brambles.

Find the Aedyran Ambassador in the Strangleroot

#	Step-by-step Walkthrough
1	Proceed forward to find the Aedyran Ambassador, but beware of roaming Black Bears and Xaurips. Take time to explore, as you may find valuable loot scattered throughout the area.
2	Turn right and have Kai burn another brambles to clear the path.
3	Continue forward until you meet Ambassador Falseen Hylgard before the entrance to a huge open area. He asks for your help in defeating an afflicted nearby.

Kill the Afflicted Bear

Enter the open area to see a Dreamthrall Elder Brown Bear boss that you need to defeat. We recommend attacking from a distance by using any ranged weapon like the wand and just back away when the bear is approaching you.

After killing the bear, speak with Ambassador Falseen Hylgard.

Examine the Adra Pillar

Interact with the Adra Pillar nearby to engage in a conversation with The Voice, the entity you heard upon entering the cave. The Voice will ask for your help, which you can accept or refuse.

Should You Help the Voice?

Help the Voice

If you agree to help the Voice, you will be blessed with the Dream Touch Godlike ability, a powerful healing ability that can revive your allies and damage certain enemies.

Don’t Help the Voice

If you decide not to help the Voice, you will instead get the Godlike’s Will ability, which grants you an additional Ability Point.

Leave the Strangleroot

Once the cutscene ends, speak with the Aedyran Ambassador. Exit the Strangleroot by following the newly opened path and climbing up through the cave’s exit.

Enter the City of Paradis

#	Step-by-step Walkthrough
1	Head southwest to Paradis, which is located at the center of Dawnshore. You can make your way southeast on foot or fast travel to a closer point. Be careful when traveling on foot as Octav the Firebrand and his lackeys are hiding out in the Godless Ruins. ▶︎ List of All Bounties and Rewards
*	If you want to get there quickly, you can fast travel to Ivona’s Threshold Party Camp or even Claviger’s Landing. However, taking this path will force you to be confronted by Pod and Brentis as you cross the bridge. Regardless of your dialogue choices, the encounter will inevitably turn into a fight. Pod and Brentis are relatively easy opponents, so the battle should be manageable.
2	After defeating both of them, enter Paradis through the Main Gate. You will then watch a cutscene where you get shot by an arrow, ending the quest.
