Avowed players can crouch in tall grass to remain hidden and deal more damage with their first attack. Learn more about using stealth to your advantage and get stealth kills in this guide!
The Alpha Strike Protocol achievement requires you to get 15 stealth kills. In order to get a stealth kill, you'll need to kill an unaware enemy in one hit. This can be done at range using high critical hit weapons like the Bow or Arquebus, or by getting close and using the Divine Thorn Godlike ability.
Regardless of method, the requirement is to get them in one hit. Otherwise, the kill won't count towards the Alpha Strike Protocol achievement.

Cover Grass is an environmental mechanic that allows you to hide when crouched in it. A Hidden sign appears in the middle of the screen when crouched in cover grass, allowing you to crouch walk within its area without being detected.
Crouching in grass is not a requirement for enemies to be unaware, or for players to get a Stealth Kill. This mechanic simply gives players more freedom with their positioning.
Enemies are significantly weaker, and players do more damage when game difficulty is set to Easy or Story Mode. If you're having a tough time getting 15 stealth kills, consider setting the difficulty lower to make things easier.
Note: If you're playing on Path of the Damned, this option is not available since you'll invalidate your save for the achievement if you lower your difficulty.
Some of the abilities in the Ranger Tree will help with damage against unaware enemies. Consider getting them to make getting stealth kills much easier.
Ability | Explanation |

Grants invisibility until your next combat input, making attacks against unaware enemies much easier. |

Specifically increases Gun and Bow damage against unaware enemies. |

Boosts Gun and Bow damage, making long-range stealth kills easier. |
If a hit on an unaware enemy does not result in a one-hit kill, it is recommended to simply run away until the enemies reset their aggro. Enemies do not respawn, so killing enemies when they have been alerted wastes an opportunity for a stealth kill.
