How to Gain Essence

Methods to Gain Essence

Regenerate Using Essence Consumables

Essence Consumables

Consumables can be found as loot and purchased in certain stores, and are the main way to gain Essence in Avowed. While in combat, Essence Potions are the best to use as they regenerate the fastest and fill the entire bar quickly.

When outside of combat, you can eat food that increases Essence. Food regenerates your health and Essence slowly when in combat, so when in a pinch, opt for the potions instead.

Defeating Enemies Drops Essence

Enemy Essence Drops

Enemies drop Essence upon death, in the form of purple orbs that form where they were killed. This helps keep you fueled over the course of combat, especially if you heavily use spells.

The Harvest Essence passive ability in the Wizard Tree increases the amount of essence you gain from defeated enemies, with each rank further boosting the amount absorbed.
