Debt of Blood is a side quest from the Emerald Stair region in Avowed. Read on for a Debt of Blood walkthrough and learn its location, how to unlock it, and the rewards for completing this quest.

| During the razing of Fior, the Steel Garrote killed a young sentry and looted a ring from his body. His uncle, Vemas, has sworn revenge. He wants you to kill the Steel Garrote captain who did the deed and retrieve the ring from him. | |
Debt of Blood can only be unlocked if Fior mes Iverno burns down during the Ancient Soil main quest. Unfortunately, you may not be able to do this quest if you save Fior mes Iverno in your playthrough.

To start the quest, travel to the Abandoned Farms, located north of Fior mes Iverno, and speak to Vemas. He will ask you to track down and kill the captain who murdered his nephew and retrieve the Rogera Family Ring.
Head southeast through the Rolling Crags until you reach the Ranger Headquarters.
Once there, confront Captain Carnet and you can choose how to handle the situation:

If you choose the [Attack] dialogue option, this will lead to a boss fight against Captain Carnet and the Steel Garrotes. Prioritize defeating the Battlemage first, then eliminate the minions, before finally taking down Captain Carnet.
After defeating her, loot her corpse to obtain the Rogera Family Ring.
You can resolve the situation diplomatically in two ways, but neither option is recommended, as you will receive no reward from Vemas later on.

| Option 2 |  Choose “Fine. You’ve made your case. If you want it that badly, it’s yours,” and you will basically let Captain Carnet go and leave empty-handed. |
Return to Vemas and hand the ring over. To maximize your reward, make sure to demand payment, and Vemas will gladly agree, rewarding you with 750 Coins and completing the quest.
If you return to Vemas empty-handed or without killing Captain Carnet, he will be upset and refuse to reward you, leaving you with only XP for completing the quest.
If you kill Captain Carnet and return the Rogera Family Ring, Vemas will reward you with 750 Coins upon demanding payment.
