Vanguard Scouts are described as expert hunters, so you'll want to get ranged abilities like Tanglefoot and later on, Marksmanship to pin down your prey and strike from afar. While stealth and range are your priorities, Parry and Finesse ensure you're never defenseless up close, befitting your dexterous nature.
On top of your martial prowess, Vanguard Scouts excel in stealth and keen observation. Shadowing Beyond grants temporary invisibility, while Steady Aim lets you keep your cool, slowing down time and ensuring precise bow shots. Pair this with Sniper and Staggering Shot to devastate unsuspecting targets.
Abilities that play into your nimble combat style are also great to have. Evasive is a good ability to get since it reduces the stamina cost of your dodges, while Quick Switch is great to have for faster backup weapon switching.

The Vanguard Scout is an expert tracker who uses weapons that are quick and silent to catch their prey unawares. Use a Bow to deal ranged damage minus the load report of an Arquebus or Pistol, then swap out to a Sword if your hunt requires you to get up close and personal.
Note: Swords are preferred over Daggers since most of the early game Abilities for the Ranger tree favor one-handed weapons. Better reach in the form of a sword wins against the thematically appropriate, dual daggers setup.
Best Armor for Vanguard Scout
When tracking your prey in the wilderness, silence, freedom of movement, and a light step are paramount. As such, Vanguard Scouts often opt for Light Armor as it reduces the penalty to your Stamina, allowing you to stay nimble while exploring and fighting.
