What Happens When You Die?

What is Second Wind?

Dying Reloads Your Most Recent Save

Into The Beyond

If Second Wind has been used and is on cooldown, the screen will turn grey, and the player's character ragdolls. Players will be shown an Into The Beyond screen before respawning back to your most recent auto-save.

Is There a Penalty for Dying?

No Penalty for Dying

Regardless of difficulty, there is no penalty for dying in Avowed. However, you can lose a lot of progress if you respawn and reload into a save or auto-save that is very far behind in progress (compared to when you died).

To prevent getting massive resets like this, make sure you save constantly, especially if you expect a fight around the corner. Alternatively, you can set your auto-save frequency higher if you really don't want to manual save all the time.
