Get Your 2nd Companion During the Main Story

Despite how much content you can do before doing the main mission in Dawnshore, it'll be better to progress the main story for a bit until you reach the main quest, An Untimely End.

The sole reason behind this progression is that during this main mission, you finally get to recruit your 2nd Companion, turning your 2-man party into a much more competent 3-man. At higher difficulties, this makes all the difference since you now have 2 other members running interference during fights.

Decide on the Weapon Loadout You Plan to Use

In Avowed, loot is finite, so you can't infinitely farm upgrade materials as resource nodes and enemies don't respawn to drop you more. This means that you'll have to spend your upgrade materials wisely and that entails choosing your preferred weapons early in the game.

Remember, before you upgrade anything, make sure you've decided on the type of weapons you want to use moving forward. Use the early game to explore and use different weapons to get a feel for the ones you ultimately want to use until endgame.

Best Weapons Tier List

Obtain at Least 1 Fine Quality Weapon or Armor Piece

Unique weapons and armor are the driving force behind upgrading your gear in Avowed. However, when you do discover them, the quality they spawn as will depend on the highest quality level of your current items.

  • Unique Weapon quality on pick up will vary depending on the highest level of your currently equipped weapon.
  • Unique Armor quality on pick up will vary depending on the highest level of chest armor or clothing you currently have equipped.

In order to guarantee that your unique in Dawnshore spawn in as Fine (Blue) Quality instead of Common, try to prioritize getting at least 1 Fine Quality weapon and armor piece before you start seeking out unique item loot.

Complete All Side Quests in Western Dawnshore

Dawnshore's area difficulty is split right in the middle. On the western side of the region, you have Tier 1 enemies - perfect for players who only have Common quality weapons and armor equipped. On the eastern side, you have deadlier Tier 2 enemies.

During early game, prioritize completing all the side quests that take you to the east side of Dawnshore since side quests are your best source of XP in Avowed.
