| S Tier |
S-Tier Grimoires are ranked as such since they can deploy the best spells in the game. This includes Freezing Pillar, Blast of Frost, Missile Salvo, Pull of Eora, Spirit Lance, Blackbow, and Grimoire Snap. |

| A Tier |
A-Tier Grimoires are ranked as such if 1/2 of their imprinted spells are good (with a 3rd being usable for exploiting elemental weaknesses). Due to their limited list, they fill a certain role (e.g., AoE vs. single-target damage) but they do not excel at either. |
| B Tier |
B-Tier Grimoires are very situational in their use. If you need to exploit an enemy weakness, these will be your go-to for elemental damage spells. However, unlike A-Tier Grimoires, they aren't mainstays of your build and are quickly swapped out once they've filled their niche. |
| C Tier |
C-Tier Grimoires don't have much to offer when it comes to early, mid-, and late game useability. These are the Grimoires that are overshadowed by the higher tiers, to the degree that they aren't all that useful since you'll find better Grimoires in the A~B Tier that do the same job but better. |
Best Grimoires in Avowed
Aurochs-Skin Grimoire for Frost Spells
For Frost Mages, the Aurochs-Skin Grimoire is the best grimoire to equip since it has both of the best Frost spells imprinted (Freezing Pillar and Blast of Frost), while also getting Missile Salvo for extra DPS and Arcane Seal for Essence regeneration.
At Legendary +3, you're looking at an 8 second CD for Freezing pillar and a 7 second CD for Blast of Frost. Sneak in the cast time of Missile Salvo and you have a spell rotation that's off cooldown and ready to use at all times so long as you sneak in Wand attacks in between casts.
Obtained from the Hidden Room Next to Ryngrim During Face Your Fears
The Aurochs-Skin Grimoire can be found behind a hidden room inside Ryngrim's Tower during the main quest, Face Your Fears. The hidden entrance will be on the left side of the room. Press the button in the bookshelf to open it and access the room with the grimoire.
Eilara's Grimoire for AoE and Crowd Control
For Wizards looking for more AoE options, you can opt to use Eilara's Grimoire. Armed with an imprinted Freezing Pillar, Pull of Eora, and Meteor Shower, you'll have no trouble controlling the battlefield with your multiple AoE spells.
To top it all off, Spirit Lance is available to cast giving you an explosive melee alternative if you ever find yourself in a pinch. If you aren't as reliant on Frost procs in combat, then Eilara's Grimoire will be the better option for you.
Looted from a Chest Near the Book of Oaths During Keep History Alive
During the Side Quest Keep History Alive in Galawain's Tusk you'll have to retrieve the 2 books from the Pargrunen Monastery. In the large balcony area with an altar holding the Book of Oaths, there will be a chest to the right of the altar that contains Eilara's Grimoire.

Beothel's Grimoire is easily S+ tier. Parasitic Staff is incredibly op restoring essence with every strike and dealing high stun in a large AoE at rank 2(only 1 point needed). Then you have Corrosive Syphon inflicting poison while quickly healing you. Then you ALSO have arcane viel 25% damage reduction and at rank 3(only needing 2 points) projectiles are reflected back at enemies and melee attackers are knocked back lol THEN to top it off you get blizzard dealing the best elemental dmg to mobs.
