Avowed - XP Farming Guide

XP in Avowed is difficult to come by since it requires full completion of side content in order to pay off. Read on to learn how to farm XP in the game, including tips for getting XP fast and info on how much XP you need to hit max level.

How to Farm XP

Enemy Respawn Farm in Naku Kubel

During the main quest, Shadows of the Past, you'll be presented with the option to destroy the temple of Naku Kubel or to Sever the Adra. If you chose to sever the Adra, you'll be able to return to Naku Kubel in Shatterscarp to find that enemies inside the temple are respawning infinitely.

Technically, this is the only place (and time) in the game where you can "farm" XP. However, this is not an efficient way of farming XP. Due to the enormous amounts of XP needed and how little you get per enemy rotation, it takes ages to get a single level up after you hit Level 25+.

Do Side Quests Once You See Them

Side Quest

Side Quests are abundant throughout each area, each granting substantial rewards and XP. Make sure to complete them as you find them since Main Quest progress can lock you out of some side quests if you aren't careful.

If you want a lot of XP, especially when you reach areas like Shatterscarp and Galawain's Tusks, then it'll always be better to do Side Quests since the late game quests reward a ton of XP on completion.

Complete Optional Content in Every Region

Optional Content

All regions in Avowed will have Treasure Maps, Bounties, and Totem Fragments for you to collect. Each collectible type will have its own related quest that rewards XP on completion. Make sure you find and complete all of them for each region along with Side Quests to net the maximum amount of XP possible.

Kill All Enemies in a Region

Enemy Combat

Enemies in Avowed do not respawn. If you want to maximize your XP gains per region, then it'd be best to kill all enemies in a region map before moving on. This ensures you've milked all XP possible without having to backtrack.

This tip is even more effective as you reach Galawain's Tusks where enemy encounters can net you 200~500 XP compared to the paltry amounts you usually got in early game areas.

Unlock Areas Throughout the Map

Claviger

Following the Main Quest would naturally lead you to certain areas in each region, but it won't reveal the entire map. One of the easiest ways to earn XP would be to explore the map and unlock areas. While the XP rewards are small, they do add up as you explore all the regions.
