At the start of The Siege of Paradis, you will be talking to the leaders of the Living Lands about the attack on Paradis.
During the conversation with the leaders, you will be need to make a crucial decision whether to side with Lodwyn or oppose her by choosing one of the three options: grefram, uniting the Living Lands, or becoming an official colony of the Empire.

During your conversation with the leaders, we recommend picking any of the choices above in order to oppose Lodwyn. By doing this, you can avoid the bad ending and get one of the possible endings involving these choices.
Siding with Lodwyn Will Result to Bad Ending
Choosing to side with Lodwyn during The Siege of Paradis is a bad choice as it will lead to your companions leaving the party, as well as causing the leaders to feel betrayed by your decision.
Additionally, if you renounce Sapadal during your confrontation with Lodwyn, she will execute you leading to the bad ending of the game.
Siding with Lodwyn but not Renouncing Sapadal will Trigger Boss Fight
Choosing to side with Lodwyn but refusing to renounce Sapadal during the conversation will still lead to a boss fight against her. You will get an ending where you side with the Steel Garrote but don't renounce Sapadal.
