Grimoire Mastery is a Wizard passive ability that unlocks spells and enhances spell usage in Avowed. See how Grimoire Mastery works, and if your character should get the ability here.

Unlocking Grimoire Mastery allows your Envoy to cast higher-level spells from Grimoires. Additionally, your character can now also learn higher-level spells inside the Wizard Ability tree by spending Ability points, which allows you to cast the spell without the Grimoire.
However, casting from a Grimoire is still preferred, as it lowers the Essence cost and cooldown of the spell used. Furthermore, spells you’ve invested in on the Ability Tree are cast one rank higher when using a Grimoire.
It has four Ranks in total that unlock at levels 5, 10, 15, and 20, with higher ranks giving access to higher-level spells:

Grimoire Mastery reduces the Essence cost of spells, allowing you to cast more magic before having to regenerate—a perfect buff for Wizards.
The spell Essence Cost decreases even more at higher Grimoire Mastery ranks:
Freezing Pillar, a Rank 3 Grimoire Mastery Spell
Grimoire Mastery is essential for any spellcasting build. It reduces Essence costs, grants access to more powerful spells, and makes Grimoires even more valuable.
You can also use powerful spells much sooner. For example, if you have Rank 3 Grimoire Mastery and a Grimoire of Rime, by Level 9, you can be casting Freezing Pillar, an S-Tier Level 15 spell in the Ability Tree.
