How to Unlock Precious Light
Precious Light can be unlocked in the Dawnshore region by talking to Sapiento de Falva in the Market District of Southern Paradis.
You can also unlock this quest by talking to Captain Trevik at Castol’s Folly.

Talk to Sapiento de Falva in the Market District
To start Precious Light, talk to Sapiento de Falva in the Market District in Southern Paradis. He will introduce himself as an alchemist and discuss his latest research, in which he is missing an important ingredient, a luminous adra.
Speak to the Locals About Where to Find Luminous Adra
Although Sapiento is doesn’t know the location of luminous adra, the smugglers he hired to were last seen in the southern side of Paradis. Gather information around the area by speaking with the locals.
Once you have spoken to the locals, they will advise you to look for Scholar Adelgund, who can be found in the Administration District near the western gate of Paradis. Find her in the surrounding area and ask Scholar Adelgund for details about the adra.
Find Some Luminous Adra
The scholar mentions that the smugglers are probably going to Castol's Folly, a small island located at southeast of Paradis.
Head over to the Castol's Folly and sneak around the smugglers, prepare to combat with them, and search around for the Luminous Adra. Speak with Captain Trevik, hear him out regarding the story behind the adra and obtain the Luminous Adra Crate.
Optional: Go to Captain Bardatto
After learning that the Vailian Trading Company is the legal owner of the luminous adra, you will have the option to find them before going back to Sapiento de Falva.
According to the smugglers, Captain Bardatto was in charge of finding the cargo and her last reported location was at the Usher's Hand, located east of Southern Paradis.

Should You Give the Luminous Adra to Captain Bardatto?
Attack Captain Bardatto
Speak with Captain Evina Bardatto about the luminous adra and their deal with Captain Trevik. If you wish to keep Captain Trevik and his crew safe, you can fight Captain Bardatto. You also get to keep the adra to give to Sapiento.
Choosing to attack will start a battle against Captain Bardatto, and defeating her grants you a Bloodstone Gem that can be looted from her corpse.
Return the Luminous Adra
If you choose to return the adra, Captain Bardatto will thank you on behalf of the Vailian Trading Company. Giving the Luminous Adra Crate to her gives you less XP, and you still need to report back to Sapiento about the adra.
Return to Sapiento
Head back to the Market District in Paradis and talk to Sapiento about the situation at the Castol's Folly with Captain Trevik. If you give him the adra, he will reward you and give thanks as he can continue his research for the potion.
However, if you do not have the adra because you chose to return it to Captain Bardatto, you will only get XP upon completing the quest.
Precious Light Rewards
The Fantastic Alembic from Sapiento
Once you complete Precious Light, Sapiento will reward you for bringing the adra to him with the The Fantastic Alembic, which will be added to the Inventory and also grants 977 XP.
Bloodstone Gem from Defeating Captain Bardatto
If you choose to go to Captain Bardatto and defeat her in battle, you can obtain a Bloodstone Gem.
