There are two new weapon types in the game with two new weapons in each type, making that a total of four new weapons introduced in Splatoon 3!
The first new weapon type is the Stringer. This weapon strongly resembles a bow and arrow and normally shoots horizontal volleys of ink. Vertical volleys of ink are also possible through aerial attacks.
Its strengths lie in its ability to quickly take out opponents thanks to its wide coverage, and can even damage opponents that hide behind obstacles due to how the arrows explode on impact.

Tri-Stringer | Toxic Mist | Killer Wail 5.1 | 4 |
REEF LUX 450 | Curling Bomb | Tenta Missiles | 10 |
The second of the two new weapon types is the Splatana. This weapon bears a resemblance to window wipers often seen on cars. While its name might suggest close combat akin to a katana, the splatana instead sends ink flying with every slash.
While it may not be the best at ink coverage, it can be deadly when used in combat. A single slash could be enough for an instant kill!

All Free Update Contents and Release Dates
Like in previous Splatoon games, new weapons can be purchased from Ammo Knights, one of the shops found in Inkopolis Square. Make sure to visit the shop often to see what new weapons you can purchase for your character.
Each weapon can only be unlocked after you reach a certain level. The Ammo Knights shop itself can only be accessed once you reach Level 2. To increase your level and unlock more weapons, you'll need to participate in plenty of Regular Battles.
Weapons can be purchased in Ammo Knights using Sheldon Licenses. You can earn licenses by either leveling up your character or consistently using a single weapon.
Each Sheldon License can be exchanged for one weapon of your corresponding level. However, you can also purchase weapons above your level by spending more licenses. Use your licenses wisely at first and purchase the best weapons for your character!
Weapons Tier List: Best Weapons Ranked
Sub Weapons are secondary weapons used alongside your main weapon, while Special Weapons are weapons that either deal significantly more damage or grant other unique effects, but require you to fill up your points gauge.
These two weapons are used alongside your main weapon. Each Main Weapon is linked to a specific special and sub weapon, and you cannot change the sub or special of a weapon.
