Agent 8 made her debut in the Spaltoon series as the protagonist of Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion's single-player campaign. The DLC marks the point in the series when Octolings became playable characters.

In the DLC, Agent 8 is an Octoling who awakens in a dark subway platform who then investigates a mysterious underground test facility.
