You can take advantage of the N-Zap '85's excellent fire rate to quickly fill up your Special Gauge once a match starts. One quick tip is to start shooting ink at the floor as you make your way to the middle of the battlefield. Your gauge meter should be filled in half by then which leaves you to land a few more hits to acquire that sweet Special Weapon.
During situations where you will have to fight multiple enemies at once, it is best to strafe and move sideways as you shoot ink to avoid incoming ink shots from the enemy you are battling with. This also makes hitting targets easier as you can also use your movement to aim at enemies who are also strafing.
