Anarchy Battles Features |
---|
Anarchy Battles are a new game mode, replacing Ranked Battles from previous games, but still lets you complete against other players in a five minute match to increase your ranking in the current season.
New players get access to Anarchy Battles at Level 10. Start a Regular Battle and participate in Turf Wars to get some practice!
Turf War Guide: Rules and How to Play
Anarchy Battles are automatically unlocked if you have a Splatoon 2 save data on your Nintendo Switch regardless of your character's current player level.
Your ranking from Splatoon 2 also gets transferred to your character, so you'll get matched with other players of similar ranks from the start!
How to Transfer Data from Splatoon 2
Anarchy Battles (Series) | ・Solo Only ・Multibattle Mode ・Pay Rank Points to Play ・Higher Rank Point rewards |
---|---|
Anarchy Battle (Open) | ・Solo or with Friends ・One Extreme Battle Mode ・Lower Rank Point Rewards |
There are two modes to choose from when playing Anarchy Battles, with Series providing higher Rank Point rewards.
This multibattle mode is Solo only, however, and your team needs to win a total of 5 matches to win before losing 3.
Anarchy Battle Series requires you to pay rank points to start a match, which are awarded after every match. The higher rank gets, the more rank points you'll have to pay and get awarded.
In contrast, Anarchy Battle Open doesn't require you to pay to play a match but you'll earn less Rank Points compared to Series.
X Battles are an upcoming mode for Anarchy Battles similar to Splatoon 2's X Rank Ranked Battles, and you'll need to reach S+0 Rank or higher to participate!
Like normal Anarchy Battles, you'll need to spend X Power to start an X Battle as you make your way up the leaderboard.
Mode | Description |
---|---|
Splat Zones | Take control of all the zones around the map by covering them in ink to start your countdown timer. The match is won by having less time left on your timer by the end of the match or by having it reach 0. |
Tower Control | Both team must take control of a tower and ride it to the enemy base. Whichever team gets the tower to the other base first or gets it the farthest before time runs out wins. |
Rainmaker | Both teams must take control of a rainmaker, which slows you down but can also attack enemies. The team that gets the rainmaker to the enemy base or gets it the farthest before time runs out wins. |
Clam Blitz | Collect clams and shoot them into the opposite team's goal. The first team to reach a score of 100 wins. |
Anarchy Battles feature the same battle modes as the Ranked Battles it replaced, but have different ranking systems. Like its predecessor in Splatoon 2, stages and modes rotate every 2 hours for both the Open and Series.
Anarchy Splatfest is Splatsville's local news broadcast and, much like Inkopolis News in Splatoon 2, will announce what are the current stages and battle modes for Anarchy Battles!
The news broadcast is hosted this time by Deep Cut, with Shiver, Frye, and Big Man all bringing you the latest news around Splatsville!

Rank Mechanics |
---|
Players start at Rank C- and can rank up all the way to S+50! The higher your rank gets, the more rank points you'll earn after each match!
Rank Progression |
---|
C-, C, C+ to B-, B, B+ to A-, A, A+ to S, S+0 to S+50 |
Your Anarchy Battle Rank stays the same for all battle modes. If you're a B+ Rank for Splat Zones, you'll still level your overall rank if you play another battle mode!
Once you reach a certain milestone, such as from C+ to B-, you're given the chance to participate in a Rank-Up Battle.
These battles require Rank Points to play and your goal is to win 3 games before losing 3. If you suceed, you'll move on to the next rank tier. If you lose 3 matches before winning 3, you'll have to try again!
Original Rank | After Decrease |
---|---|
C to S | 2 Ranks Down |
S+0 to S+9 | S |
S+10 and Above | S+0 |
Your Rank in Anarchy Battles will drop a little near the end of the current season's end every 3 Months. Defeats sustained during this time, however, will not lower your rank.
Playing Series nets you more rewards for every match won, with higher Rank matches awarding more points, making it the more effective method to earn Rank Points with every victory.
Keep in mind that you'll need to pay Rank Points to start a match so consider the amount of points you'll need to pay with the amount you'll potentially lose if you don't win the multibattle series!
Anarchy Battle's Open mode rewards less Rank Points but it doesn't require you to pay to play a match. This makes it a great mode to practice solo or with a team of friends, especially before taking on a Promotion Match!
Tips and Tricks |
---|
Special Weapons are vital for breaking through the opposing team and can turn the tide of the battle if your team is losing.
Try to fill up your special gauge as soon as the match starts so you can deal burst damage to players and turf alike with your special weapons!
Coordinating with your teammates is key to winning successive matches in Anarchy Battles. Avoid straying too far from the rest of the team to avoid getting picked of and ensure you can support an ally when they're pressing their advantage or is in need of help!
You should also take some time to familiarize yourself with the weapons you'll take on an Anarchy Battle since even weapons in the same class have different stats such as range and firepower.
Test out your weapon at the lobby to get a feel of the weapon you'll use in your next match. You can also test out weapons at Ammo Knights before purchasing them.
Prioritize taking out particularly touch opponents, such as players wielding chargers or rollers with the Tacticooler and Zipcaster specials since these can prove troublesome and even turn the tide of battle to their favor.
Finally, make sure to get enough practice and familiarize yourself with all the stages and modes so that you know the best tactics and weapons to use in the Series battle.
