Everything We Learned from Nintendo Treehouse: Live

Single-player Showcase

The Splatoon 3 section of the video is divided into two parts. The first part consists of a showcase of the single-player campaign available in Splatoon 3 called ‟Return of the Mammalians”.

Agent 3

The protagonist of the single-player campaign is Agent 3, who is a recurring character in the Splatoon franchise. However, the presenters did mention that this iteration of Agent 3 is not the same the rest.

List of Characters

Twirling, Swirling, Whirling

At the beginning of the showcase, they enter the stage Twirling, Swirling, and Whirling, a stage filled with rotating platforms and Octosnipers, one of the enemy types in Story Mode.

Pick Your Weapon

Before the presenter begins, she is asked to select from one of three weapons that she would like to use during the stage: the Hero Gear, Mini Splatling, or Range Blaster. Each weapon will also have different sub weapon options, one of which is Small Fry.

Small Fry

In addition to being your companion during the campaign, Small Fry can also be used as sub weapon. You can throw Small Fry at enemies to beat them up and call him back when needed.

Trizooka

The Trizooka is a new Special Weapon introduced in Splatoon 3, which seems to be an upgraded form of the Inkzooka. Agent 3 can be seen picking it up and replacing her current Special Weapon during the stage.

Replayability and Timed Challenges

The presenters have stated the stages in the single-player campaign will have plenty of replayability due to the different weapons you can select, and the timing mechanic, which allows you to aim for better times through the stage.

Stamp 'Em Out

The second stage that they showcase during the presentation is Stamp 'Em Out. The stage makes a great introduction for one of the new weapon types in Splatoon 3.

Splatana Stamper

The Splatana Stamper is the only choice of weapon we have seen so far for the Stamp 'Em Out stage. It is a completely new weapon that has not been revealed before this livestream, and it is equipped with the Curling Bomb sub weapon.

One-Way Ride through Target Town

The final Story Mode stage that they showcase in the trailer is One-Way Ride through Target Town. Like the first stage, there are three available weapons to choose from: the Heavy Splatling, the Rapid Blaster, or the brand new Splatoon 3 weapon, the Tri-Stringer.

Stages and Strategies

The second part of the Splatoon 3 portion of the livestream talks about the different weapons, stages, strategies, and other things you can do outside the single-player campaign.

Splash-o-matic

At the start of this segment, they feature a Splash-o-matic, which is a returning weapon from Splatoon and Splatoon 2, and discuss its overal versatility. They also give a short intro on Sub Weapons and Special Weapons to those new to the franchise.

Crab Tank

The Crab Tank is a new Special Weapon featured with the Splash-o-matic. When triggered, the player is seen riding on the crab's back. It can shoot either a torrent of ink at targets or large balls of ink that explode on impact.

New Multiplayer Lobby and Test Range

Unlike in previous games, the multiplayer lobby in Splatoon 3 is now travesersable with features such as the Test Range available inside. You can even play in the Test Range while waiting for multiplayer matches.

Squid Roll

The Squid Roll is a new technique in Splatoon 3 that allows you to turn in the opposite direction instantaneously while in Squid Form, instead of momentarily stopping.

Copy Machine

Inside the Test Range is a new gizmo called the Copy Machine, which mimics the actions of the player when turned on. It is useful when trying to practice certain moves against other players.

Squid Surge

Another new move that players can perform is the Squid Surge. Charge the move while climbing up a wall in Squid Form to launch yourself upwards, catching you opponents by surprise if they decide to camp up the ledge.

Sort Weapons by Class

A small quality of life feature that you can now do when equpping weapons is filtering weapons by their type. This makes sorting through all your weapons much easier in the long run.

Carbon Roller and Zipcaster

The Carbon Roller is a returning weapon from Splatoon and Splatoon 2, which they feature once again during the presentation. However, one new feature about the Carbon Roller is its Special Weapon.

It is now equipped with a Zipcaster, a new Special Weapon in Splatoon 3, which allows you to cast a line towards walls and zip around the battlefield to evade enemy attacks or catch targets by surprise.

Scorch Gorge

After the Test Range, the presenters showcase one of the new multiplayer stages in Splatoon 3, Scorch Gorge, and tour the audience around the stage while giving possible situations that could prove useful in an actual match.

Though not explicitly mentioned, they likely entered the stage through Recon Mode, a feature that allows you to freely explore stages at your leisure.

Splat Charger and Ink Vac

The Splat Charger is another returning weapon showcased in the livestream that works similar to a sniper. To deal the most damage, you'll need to charge up each shot and pateintly wait for enemies to enter your sights.

A new Special Weapon equipped to the Splat Charger is the Ink Vac, which sucks up enemy ink and shoots the explosive projectile at targets.

Eeltail Alley and Spawning

The final stage that they show us for the livestream is Eeltail Alley, again in Recon Mode. Upon entering the stage, the presenters also explain that players can now choose where they respawn rather than always respawning in the same spot.

Lockers

Another feature that is part of the multiplayer lobby is lockers. Each player will have their own personal locker that they can customize to their heart's content, as long as they have the money to purchase the items from Hotlantis, a new store in Splatoon 3.

Banners, Badges, and Titles

Another cool customization feature shown in the showcase is banners, badges, and titles. Each player will have a nameplate that appears during matches and other player interactions. The different elements of these nameplates can be customized to the player's liking.

Spaltoon 3 Edition Nintendo Switch OLED and Pro Controller

Lastly the presenters also revealed that the Splatoon 3 Edition of the Nintendo Switch OLED is coming out on August 26th, one day after the livestream. Meanwhile, the Splatoon 3 Pro Controller launches on September 9th, the day of the release.
