The upcoming Splatfest is going to be a collaboration between Pokemon and Splatoon 3 and celebrates the upcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It will have the theme, ‟Which first partner Pokémon would you choose? Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type?”
When picking starters in Pokemon, your first option is the Grass-type, and the same is true for the current Splatfest. However, not only will you be representing your Splatfest team, but all other Grass-type starters in the Pokemon franchise, like Bulbasaur, Grookey, and the newly announced, Sprigatito.
The second option for your Pokemon starter and Splatfest team is the Fire-type. This type includes several iconic Fire-type starters, such as Charmander, Scrobunny, and the newly announced, Fuecoco. Burn through your competition and show them why Fire-type starters are the best.
Last but not the least is the Water-type, another strong type with powerful Water-type starters, including Squirtle, Sobble, and the newly announced, Quaxly. As descendants of squids and octopuses, Inklings and Octolings likley identify with this type the most.

Voting starts during the Sneak Peak of the Splatfest Event, which is one week before the start of the main event. This gives you plenty of time to decide and pick your team.
To cast your vote, head to the booth in Splatsville Square to use the Pledge Box. Interact with the booth, and you'll have an option to choose between the three current Splatfest teams.
Each Splatfest Event will have a different set of teams that you can join, but there will always be a total of three teams in the Splatfest, each supported by one of the three idols. After interacting with the Pledge Box, pick any of the three teams to participate in the event.
Splatfest Dates and Times: When is the Next Splatfest?
The team that you choose in Splatfest is ultimately up to you, but we have certain recommendations and ideas on how you should choose your team.
Based on Your Opinions | Each Splatfest will have a theme, like "what would you bring to a deserted island?" Your opinions on this theme can help you pick a team. If you truly believe that Gear is the best item to bring, then you may want to choose that team. |

Based on the Idol | If you do not have a strong opinion on the matter, you may also choose you team based on the idol supporting it. If your favorite idol is Big Man, then Fun might be the team for you. |
Based on Popularity | You can also gauge the popularity of a team beforehand by checking online forums and message boards. Some players even endorse their team with messages and art in the mailbox. |
Based on Color | Lastly, you can also choose a team based on their colors. If your favorite color is orange, then you may want to choose Grub as your team in the Splatfest. |
