How to Increase Star Power Banner

Increase the Star Power of your gear in Splatoon 3 to add more gear slots and equip more gear abilities! Read on to learn how to increase the Star Power of your gear and find out what Star Power does!

How to Increase Gear Star Power

Repurchase the Gear in the Shops

Splatoon 3 - Increase Star Power
You can raise the Star Power of your gear by going to the respective shop of each type of Gear in Splatsville and repurchasing the Gear. The available gear in the shop restocks everyday so make sure to check their selection frequently to see if your gear item pops up again.

Give Murch Super Sea Snails

Splatoon 3 - Murch
You can raise your Gear's Star Power by talking to Murch, who can be found by the entrance of the Lobby. You can then raise your Gear's Star Power by using Super Sea Snails earned through Splatfest events.

Additionally, talking to Murch is also the only way to increase the Star Power of Gear items that are not sold in shops.

Add Gear Slots to Your Gear

Splatoon 3 - Add Gear Slots

Raising your Gear's Star Power will also add Gear Ability slots to it. Gear with no star power have only 1 gear slot, and raising a gear's star power will unlock the second and third gear slots.

Increases the Amount of XP Gained

Splatoon 3 - EXP Gain

Raising a gear's Star Power will increase the amount of experience points that you can earn for that gear. The XP accumulate as you equip the gear and compete in online matches. By accumulating XP, you can earn more Star Power and obtain additional slots and gear abilities.
