1 Splatoon 3 - Match Menu
Hit NSW - L to open Match Menu and select your game mode.
2 Splatoon 3 - Create With Friends
Make sure to choose With Friends.
3 Splatoon 3 - Friends List
Upon hitting NSW - A, it will open up your friends list to choose from.
4 Splatoon 3 - Friends Party List
Press NSW - Y to create a room for your friends to join.
5 Splatoon 3 - Friends Password
Create a password for your room.

Approach the Ghosts of Your Friends

Splatoon 3 - Ghosts Avatar Invitational

Ghosts are holographic avatars of your friends who are online that you can see inside the training room. You can also join their parties or drop in their ongoing battles by simply approaching them and hitting A.

Regional Lockout

Splatoon 3 - Region Locked Friends

You can only invite friends and other players who are currently in the same region as you are. You cannot invite friends that are on a different region. For example you are currently in North America, players from Europe and Asia will not be able to join your lobby.

Is Nintendo Switch Online Subscription Required to Play With Friends?

NSO is Required for Online Multiplayer

Splatoon 3 - Friends NSO

To participate in multiplayer activities, you will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription active. Once you subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online membership, you will be able to access Splatoon 3’s online multiplayer features through its main menu.

Regular Battles

Splatoon 3 - Regular Battles Turf War

This is an Unranked Matchmaking game mode where you can only play Turf War with your party against other online opponents!

Online Anarchy Battles

Splatoon 3 - Friends Ranked Battle

Put your ranks on the line with your friends against equally ranked online opponents! You can play a total of four game modes: Splatzones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz!

Private Battles

Splatoon 3 - Friends Regular Battles

Group up with your buddies in this private matchmaking mode where only you and your friends can compete with and against each other in all the game modes the regular battles has to offer.
