In Splatoon 3, you can do a Squid Surge by holding the B button then releasing it to swim up walls faster and in a single burst. Read on to learn how to do the Squid Surge and its benefits!

How to Do a Squid Surge

Press and Hold B
Controls While in climbing walls in Swim Mode (Hold ZR), Hold B then release

You can do a squid surge by swimming up walls and holding the B button then releasing it when you see a brief spark on your character.

Doing a squid surge will help you scale walls faster. This is especially helpful if you're using a ranged weapon because it gives you a better vantage point. Having the higher ground lets you ink areas easily and conveniently take down enemies by surprise.

Enemies can spot you rather easily though when you have the higher ground so be wary!

Slightly Repel Ink From Opponents

Presumably, your character will slightly repel ink from opponents when you glow briefly from doing a Squid Surge. The Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct confirmed that Inklings and Octolings do the same while doing a Squid Roll so we can assume that it's the same for the Squid Surge.
