You can earn Super Sea Snails after Splatfests. The number of Super Sea Snails you acquire depend on your rank and your team's performance at the end of a Splatfest. Winning teams get a higher share of the Super Sea Snail pool than losing teams.
Splatfests are the only way to earn Super Sea Snails.

Super Sea Snails Rewarded | |
---|---|
Victory | 24 pieces (Ruler Rank) |
Defeat | 21 pieces (Ruler Rank) |
By being part of the winning team and reaching the rank of Ruler, players can earn a maximum amount of 24 Super Sea Snails.
Whether your team wins or loses, the best advice to earning more Super Sea Snails is to play more to increase your rank. Even being part of the losing team can still earn you 21 Super Sea Snails as long as you reach Ruler rank.
While playing more and reaching higher ranks will give you more Super Sea Snail rewards, you will not get more rewards by reaching ranks higher than Ruler.
Players will receive either 24 Super Sea Snails for winning or 21 Super Sea Snails for losing whether they reach Ruler Rank, Ruler +1 Rank, Ruler +2 Rank, etc.
You might spot a Super Sea Snail for sale at Hotlantis that costs about 330,000. Be warned, this Super Sea Snail is not used for spending. As with many other items in Hotlantis, it is actually used for decorating your locker.
List of Decorations and How to Get
You can raise your Gear's Star Power by talking to Murch, who can be found by the entrance of the Lobby. You can then raise your Gear's Star Power by using Super Sea Snails earned through Splatfest events.

Since Splatfests are the only way to earn Super Sea Snails, and they can get pretty hard to come by, try not to spend your Super Sea Snails across many different gear.
Giving Super Sea Snails to Murch is the only way to increase the Star Power of Gear items that are not sold in shops. With this in mind, we recommend prioritizing to increase the Star Power of gear such as Amiibo gear.

Aside from upgrading Gear not sold in shops, we recommend to use them to upgrade the gear that will help you farm the best gear abilities. Reaching 4 or 5 star power allows you to grind gear abilities faster, so only use them for those that you always use.

By talking to Murch, you'll have an option to reroll a gear item with 3 ability slots filled at the cost of 1 Super Sea Snail.
What ability you get will be random, but any old abilities that were replaced will give you ability chunks, giving you the chunks to replace unwanted abilities.
