The stage Get to Know Alterna, Your Only Choice is the only stage required to complete in this site, so feel free to choose whatever stage you like to proceed. What Caused the Big Bang? YOU! and The String's the Thing are particularly notable stages since the number of Power Eggs received for clearing them is among the highest for the site.
Cozy and Safe Factory Map | |

No. | Objective |
1 | Complete the stage Tread Heavily. |
2 | Remove the fuzzy Ooze on the tower in the center of the site, |
3 | Enter the stage The Future Stares Back and defeat Frye, the boss for this site. |
4 | Using the Power Eggs collected from defeating Frye, remove the fuzzy ooze blocking the exit to site 3. |
Although the fuzzy ooze surrounding Tread Heavily makes it seem impossible to reach, proper maneuvering will allow you to access the stage with no hassles. The number of Power Eggs you receive from Tread Heavily will allow you to reach the boss battle stage The Future Stares Back, which in turn, rewards you with enough eggs to remove the fuzzy ooze blocking the exit to the next site.

4 | After tossing Smallfry to remove the fuzzy ooze that blocks the exit, you can head to site 4. |
The slippery ground and the boost pads found throughout this site can cause you to accidentally collide with the fuzzy ink, so make sure to plan your movements carefully.
Although you have the option of opening a path to the 5th site, defeating the boss for site 4 is required to complete the story for Hero Mode, so open the path for site 4 first.

4 | After defeating Shiver proceed to site 5. |
A lot of stages in this site can be unlocked without having to remove fuzzy ooze, so feel free to try your hand at other stages if the ones that we suggest prove to be difficult to complete.
Though you can technically head to the next site without fighting Shiver, doing so is necessary to complete the Story for Hero Mode, so make sure to do so as soon as possible.

The geysers present in this stage can help you reach normally unreachable places if used properly. Shoot a geyser to activate it, then ride to the top in swim mode. Jumping from these geysers in swim mode will allow you to reach areas of this site that are blocked behind fuzzy ooze.
Happiness Research Lab Map | |

5 | Ink the metal ramps to the left to climb to the top, then activate the inkrail. |
6 | Ride the inkrail to the stage The Obscure Chiaroscurist, and defeat Big Man, the boss for this site. |
Happiness Research Lab is unique in that you do not have to complete any stages except for the last one. As long as you have 1200 Power Eggs before entering the site, you can simply ride inkrails to the final stage.
No. | Objective |
---|---|
1 | Watch the cutscenes and enter the final stage, Alterna Space Center. |
2 | Make it to the top and fight Mr. Grizz. |
3 | After Defeating Mr. Grizz, a few cutscenes and the ending credits will play. |
Both the Alterna Space Center and the fight with Mr.Grizz are long and difficult, so make sure that you are adequately prepared before you begin since you will have to start the stage from the beginning should you decide to quit midway. Any Upgrade Points or Sardinium that you have left should be used to upgrade your Hero Gear as much as possible.
The biggest obstacle to completing Hero Mode is the fuzzy ooze found throughout all of the sites. Use Smallfry after collecting enough Power Eggs to only remove fuzzy ooze that impedes progress.
Smallfry (Little Buddy) Character Profile: How to Use Smallfry
Power Eggs are necessary for not only clearing fuzzy ooze but entering certain stages in Hero Mode. Regardless of how you manage to clear Hero Mode, always make sure have a decent supply of Power Eggs on hand.
Power Egg Farming Guide: How to Farm Power Eggs
Although it is possible to clear Hero Mode without upgrading your Hero Gear, many stages become substantially easier after upgrading your gear a few times. Use the Upgrade Points and the Sardinium that you find to get the upgrade you deem necessary.
The boss fights against the Deep Cut Trio will take longer than normal without the proper Hero gear Upgrades. Since boss fights do not have an entry fee, do not hesitate to leave the stage to make the proper upgrades if necessary.
Hover the cover over a stage's location in the map menu. |
Select the Jump option to immediately travel to that stage. |
Jumping from stage to stage in each site will not only reduce the amount of time you spend in each site but the number of Power Eggs you potentially use to clear away fuzzy ooze within the site. Use this option to fast travel throughout sites quickly.
