Owners of Splatoon 2 will receive three Golden Sheldon Licenses, which can be exchanged for weapons in Ammo Knights once the shop is available at level 2.
These Golden Sheldon Licenses can be exchanged for any weapon regardless of level, so you get three free weapons right at the start of the game by transfering your save data.
Players who do not have save data from Splatoon 2 will have to wait until they reach level 10 before they can participate in ranked Anarchy Battles. However, by transferring your save data from Splatoon 2, you can skip the wait and start competing in ranked battles immediately.
Ranked Battles Guide: How to Play Anarchy Battles
Transferring your save data also allows you to start with a much higher rank depending on your previous Splatoon 2 rank. Your performance will be carried over so you don't need to worry about starting out again from the bottom of the food chain.
Since you are able to start off early in Anarchy Battles, you will be paired up with opponents who have similar experience in Splatoon 2.
Weapons and Gear unfortunately do not carry over from Splatoon 2. Aside from the three free weapons you can obtain with the Golden Sheldon Licenses, all players start off with the same set of equipment at the start.

Steps to Transferring Save Data | |
---|---|
1 | Boot up Splatoon 3 in the same console and account as your Splatoon 2 save data. |
2 | Select whether or not you want to transfer your save data and earn the rewards. |
In order to get the transfer rewards, you'll need to have a console and Nintendo account with save data from Splatoon 2.
If you are booting up Splatoon 3 in a different console from where you previously played Splatoon 2, you must first transfer your save data to the new console.
The game only gives you the option to transfer your save data upon first booting it up and connecting to the internet or entering the lobby. You are only able to transfer save data once per Nintendo account.
The save data from the demo version of Splatoon 3 cannot be transferred over to the full version of the game. The demo was only a trial version and thus any points or statistics earned during the trial will not carry over as well.
