While it's true that using the weapon is difficult at landing shots, you can still distract and pressure your opponents by making them dive in to cover and prevent them from pushing areas once they see your weapon's visible tracking line while aiming.
Position yourself near your team's coated areas to easily swim away from harm if you get overwhelmed.
You will be outclassed by close-ranged weapons in fights. If this happens, it is better to ink the ground of where the enemy is standing to slow them down for your allies to get an easy splat.
