Based on this trend, we can expect to see a similar timetable for Splatoon 3's release schedule, with a possible September 2023 release date for its large-scale paid DLC.

Octo Expansion was an entirely new campaign with its own storyline, expounding on Splatoon's already established lore. Splatoon 3's future DLC could be very similar, giving us a brand new story to sink our teeth into!

Octo Expansion introduced us to an entirely new section of Splatoon 2's map, with a whole subway's worth of playable stages. Splatoon 3's DLC may receive a similar treatment, where the player can travel to a new part of the map, and access additional stages and game modes.

At the tail end of Splatoon 2's lifespan, players were treated to a number of new weapons and gear.
Splatoon 3 will likely not make us wait too long for these updates, as new weapons and gear may be announced for each new catalog every three months.

Agent 8 was a newly playable Octoling in Octo Expansion.
Splatoon 3's future DLC could let players experience new playable characters like Agent 8, or a new species altogether, like how Octolings became playable after Octo Expansion.
In addition to the DLC content planned, it has been confirmed that Splatoon 3 will receive updates every 3 months for 2 years, with each update adding new in-game catalogs and weapons.
Additionally, X Battle and League Battle will be added to the game, providing players with more ways to compete.
