1. Ink these platforms and splat the enemies before crossing. |
2. Since these platforms rotate, you need to constantly keep them inked to cross safely. |
3. Instead of staying on the platform to attack, use swim mode to quickly move past these enemies. Then attack them once you reach safe ground. |
The early parts of the first section contain multiple platforms spanning over water. Be sure to ink these platforms and use swim mode to jump across them to ensure a safe landing.
1. You will find two enemies after Squid Surging up the first wall. Either pop the balloon fish, or use Smallfry to take them out from a distance. Don't hesitate to retreat when they toss Splat Bombs at you. |
2. Proper timing is needed to pass this section. If you are having trouble on the wall with the big sweeper, stay in the middle until you find an opening. |
3. You can use this platform to hide from enemies while you ink it. |
4. You can perform Squid Surges to jump across platforms as well. |
Proper timing of Squid Surges will help you clear the next level. Since performing a Squid Surge requires you remain still for a few moments, make sure to defeat any enemies in the area before performing one.
When dealing with enemies from a distance, ink the ground and use swim mode to move across this part of the stage quickly, then defeat them when you are closer. The inked ground will allow you to move faster, and provide cover when you are under attack.
1. Check the position of the enemies before dropping off the first platform. |
2. Make sure are in a good position before moving from the second platform to the third. |
3. Enemies will spawn the moment you drop from the third moving platform. Be prepared to attack and keep your distance to avoid being splatted |
4. Move along the ink rails while jumping across. |
5. If you move quickly along this section. you will not have to worry about getting hit. Defeat the enemy once you approach it. |
The next part of the section requires you to cling to walls in swim mode while moving through the stage. Many enemies will often wait to attack you once you land, so check your surrounding before dropping off the platform to ensure a safe landing.
Ink the moving platforms in the final section. |
Jump and swim across each platform when you are ready. |
A series of moving platforms have to be crossed before reaching the end of the first section. Since ink does not wash off these platforms when they are submerged, it is better to ink all of the platforms before attempting to jump across them. This will allow you to focus on simply jumping and not inking.
The second requires you to pop all the balloons that appear while riding on rails. It is recommended to not only use swim mode when you are low on ink. Swim mode not only makes you move faster but can make it difficult to pop all balloons in time.
Popping balloons will cause rails to appear, allowing you to progress through the stage. In any situation in which multiple rails will appear, prioritize moving to the most recent appearing rail to proceed smoothly throughout this section.
If you are having trouble popping clusters of balloons, use Burst Bombs, which you can get by upgrade your Hero Gear. Not only does it have a wide ink radius, but it doesnt require a lot of ink to use.
All Hero Gear Upgrades and Unlock Conditions
The final section before the next checkpoint requires you to pop all balloons while dropping off the last rail. Do not panic and pop all of the balloons in time to make the final rail appear.
Soaker Blocks are the main gimmick of this section, so make sure to extend them to their full length before crossing. The block will briefly shine and emit a sparkling sound effect it is at maximum length.
There are times when you will have to activate multiple Soaker Blocks at a time to continue. During these situations, activate a block by tossing Smallfry onto it. Smallfry will continue to attack the Soaker Block until you return it, allowing it to stay at its maximum length for as long as you need it.
Smallfry Character Profile: How to Use Smallfry
One part of this stage contains a long stretch of Soaker Blocks with enemies along them. Attacking these enemies one by one will slow your progress, so focus on swimming across the blocks, attacking only when it is absolutely necessary.
The final section pits you against a bunch of enemies in a closed arena. As you are constantly outnumbered, inking the area will provide you with extra mobility, and temporary cover, and help you activate your special weapon quickly.
Splashdown is very useful for this section, as it can instantly splat enemies that are too close and ink a wide area at the same time. Use it when you need a little breathing room.
While it may be efficient to take out mulitple Octolings in one assault, it is recommended to focus on taking out one enemy at a time, inking the arena, and recovering your ink supply and power suit health. Taking on multiple enemies at once leads to the potential of you being overwhelmed and easily splatted.
Smallfry can be placed in front of enemies as distraction which can either be used offensively for an easy splat, or defensively to move out of danger.
As you defeat the Octolings in this section, new ones will spawn in the four corners of the arena. As such, staying near these corners can often net you a quick kill before the enemy can counterattack. even if you don't manage to splat an enemy right when they spawn, these corners will provide you with a great view of the arena.
Octolings will start using special weapons to attack you. However, they will often wait until you are close enough to use them. Take note of what special weapon the enemy is carrying to properly plan your counterattack.
Special Weapon cans will continue to spawn in the arena, allowing you to immediately gain access to very powerful attacks. Don't hesistate to pick the up if you need any extra help.
