Frye is the second boss of Hero Mode, and her fight is unlocked by unlocking the Stage The Future Strikes Back, which is found in the site Cozy & Safe Factory. After entering the stage and watching a series of cutscenes, the fight with Frye will begin.
How to Beat Frye |
---|
1. Destroy all the eels that appear during Frye's attacks to damage her. |
2. After her cube she stops spinning, ink the metal sides to swim up to the top. |
3. Attack Frye while she is vulnerable. Repeat this process 3 times to win the fight. |
Frye's Attacks |
Eel Downpour: Frye will summon a bunch of eels to rain down on you. Look for the holes in ground to determine where they will land, and shoot them after dodging. |
Moray Whirlpool: Eels spawn from Frye's cube and attacking by spiraling outward towards the edge of the stage. The eels get progressively faster, so it is best to attack them while they are near Frye's cube. |
Hundred-Eel Vision: Frye will lets loose a group of eels that float in the air while attacking you. Focus on splatting the eels with blue eye masks when counterattacking. |
Great Moray Transformation: Frye unleashes a fry of eels that fly through the air to attack you. Move out of the way while attacking to reduce the numbers of eels, and thus the effectiveness of the attack. |
Frye will sometimes charge towards you with her cube to attack. Like her other attacks, Frye will give a verbal cue as to when she is using this attack, so dodge it when the times comes. |
Frye's attacks are comprised of multiple eels, making it often very difficult to evade them. By inking a large protion of the stage, you can use swim mode to easily dodge Frye's eels and position yourself to attack. Inking the area will also help you reach Frye's cube much quicker when she is stunnedl.
Other than the times that she charges towards you, it is not recommended to focus on Frye's cube, as it is impervious to attacks and will not move during most attack sequences. Instead focus on the eels that she unleashes so that you can effectively dodge and counterattack.
This cue will let you know when she will charge at you with her cube. |
This cue will let you know that her cube has stopped spinning and you can attack her directly. |
Keeping track of both Frye and her eels can be very difficult, so we recommend paying attention to Frye's verbal cues to determine the next best action. Frye will announce all of her attacks before performing them, and the two verbal cues listed above will be uttered when she plans to charge you, or is vulnerable to direct attacks.
Frye can be fought again at any time by re-entering the stage The Future Stares Back. Frye's dialogue in the cutscenes will be slightly different, and they can be skipped by pressing the - button if you want.
