List of All Characters

Several characters inhabit the world of Spatoon 3, all inspired by different aquatic creatures. Read on to see a list of all characters, including the Deep Cut Trio idols, story characters, and playable character species.

The Deep Cut Trio

Deep Cut is a popular trio in the Splatoon series, consisting of Big Man, Shiver, and Frye. They are hosts of the Splatsville news program Anarchy Splatcast. They provide information on battle stages currently available, as well as other news bulletins.

Just like Pearl and Marina from Splatoon 2, they will also likely be the ones who will host upcoming Splatfest Global Premiere event and all subsequent Splatfests afterwards!

List of Idols

Frye

Fyre is the first member of Deep Cut, who has a more bubbly personality compared to her colleagues and a primarily yellow color palette. She represents the yellow option in Splatfest team choices. Her species also appears to be an Inkling.

Shiver

Shiver is another member of Deep Cut and has a more sassy and mysterious personality. Her primary color palette is blue, so she represents the blue option in Splatfest team choices. She also appears to be a member of the Octoling species.

Big Man

Big Man is the final member of Deep Cut seems to be more laid back compared to his co-stars. He doesn't seem to speak English, but the characters in Splatsville understand him anyway.

He is a manta ray, and though he doesn't have much of a color palette, he seems to represent the red option in Splatfest teams.

Hero Mode Characters

Hero Mode, previously called Octo Valley, is the single-player story campaign for Splatoon 3. They feature characters both new and from previous titles.

Agent 3

Agent 3 is the newest recruit of Squidbeak Splatoon, as well as the protagonist and playable character of Hero Mode. You are not playing as the same Agent 3 from previous games, but a brand new agent in the franchise.

In Hero Mode, you join the fight against the furry Octarian army in the Return of the Mammalians. Solve puzzles and conquer dungeons as you go on your journey to discover the secrets of Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze.

Smallfry (Little Buddy)

Smallfry is Agent 3's partner in Story Mode. This adorable salmonid can be thrown at enemies and other obstacles that you need to destroy to progress through the game.

Cap'n Cuttlefish

Captain Craig Cuttlefish has now retired from his post as Captain of the Squidbeak Splatoon and has handed that title over to the previous Agent 3. You can find him popping his head from a manhole in the plaza before starting Hero Mode.

Agent 1 (Callie)

Callie makes her return in Splatoon 3 and is reprising her role as Agent 1 in the New Squidbeak Splatoon. She works alongside Captain and her fellow Squid Sister, Marie, to guide the player in their mission against the Octarians.

Agent 2 (Marie)

Like her fellow Squid Sister, Marie is also returning to Splatoon 3 as Agent 2 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. The two sisters will join you on your journey throughout Hero Mode, while giving you some helpful tips and advice.

Captain (Previous Agent 3)

Agent 3 from previous Splatoon games will be making her return. However, she no longer goes by Agent 3 anymore and is now the new Captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. She has handed over her previous title to your character.

DJ Octavio

In previous games, DJ Ocatavio is the leader of the Octarians and the main antagonist of the series. However, in Splatoon 3, he is no longer the villain of the story and is instead a red herring at the start of the story for the true mammalian antogonist.

Mr. Grizz

Mr Grizz is the owner of Grizzco, the company that runs Salmon Runs, and has been a main stay in the franchise since the original Splatoon game. In Splatoon 3, he is the final boss of the story that Agent 3 will have to defeat to complete their mission.

Playable Characters

There are two playable species in Splatoon 3, Octolings and Inklings.

Inklings

Inklings are the original playable characters in the Splatoon series and are the species that play the main protagonists in the games. Their design is inspired by real-life squids.

Octolings

Octolings were originally antagonists in the Splatoon series and were not playable until a Splatoon 2 DLC. However, in Splatoon 3, you can choose to play as an Octoling from the start of the game!
