Vote for a Team Before the Splatfest

Conch Shells only appear during a Splatfest Sneak Peek, which starts around a week before the main Splatfest event. Before you can earn any Conch Shells, you must first vote for a team. If you have not yet picked a team, leveling up your catalog will not earn you any Conch Shells.

However, due to a glitch in the game, this is currently possible through non-legitimate means.

Get Conch Shells by leveling up your catalog during the Sneak Peek before the Splatfest begins. You can level up your catalog by playing online Turf War battles and Salmon Run.

The Conch Shells each player earns during the Sneak Peek contributes to the overall score of the team they joined in the Splatfest.

Even if you can't play on the day of the Splatfest itself, you can still help your team win if you earned plenty of Conch Shells during the Sneak Peek.

Earn Rewards at the Shell-Out Machine

You can use your Conch Shells to win exciting rewards at the Shell-Out Machine found in the lobby. Instead of paying coins to get a capsule from the machine, you can instead use one Conch Shell as payment.

Don't worry because the Conch Shells you've spent are still counted in your team's score so just keep using them.

What to Do When Conch Shells Disappear

Conch Shell Glitch

There is currently a bug in the game that allows players to earn Conch Shells despite not voting for the Splatfest. However, these Conch Shells may disappear from the players' inventories and will not be counted toward the Splatfest results.

To prevent future Conch Shells from disappearing, you must earn them legitimately by first voting in the Splatfest. Unfortunately, there is no known way to recover already lost Conch Shells.
