Hero Mode is the single-player story mode campaign of Splatoon 3 entitled 'Return of the Mammalians' where you'll stop the Octarians from accomplishing their evil intentions.
The missions are played by accessing kettles that are covered with grates which requires you to shoot them with ink to open.
Not all kettles have to be completed to beat Story Mode. Accomplishing the kettles that are essential is only half of what you need to achieve to get 100-percent completion.
A major factor in achieving 100-percent completion is by beating all 74 story mode levels or kettles in Hero Mode and the bosses for each level.
Completing every single kettle will unlock you the bonus stage: After Alterna. Head to the secret kettle found in Future Utopia Island to access it.
Collectibles are items ranging from Sunken Scrolls, Sardinium, Gold Records, Decorations, Food Tickets, and Stickers.
Exploring Areas of Interest which are marked as green on your map also have hidden collectibles in them. Smallfry will generally guide you to them, but there will be times that you have to ink the area to pinpoint the exact location.
You can always check the upper left corner of your map screen to confirm which collectibles have not been found yet.

Along with finding collectibles and clearing stages, you must also explore every inch of each site to fill out the map.
Since there are certain parts of each map that cannot be easily reached, we recommend inking every part of the stage to compensate.
Replaying all stages with each weapon available for that level will contribute to the 100-percent achievement.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with each weapon as not all weapons are convenient to use for each challenge in the stage.
The drone will gather all items found in all sites in Alterna. Items will be delivered via the lobby terminal the next day.
To use it, you must pay 999 eggs and can only be used once a day.
