The Heavy Splatling's fantastic fire-rate is great for covering teammates from behind. Keep a charge ready to splat any oncoming threats to your team. The sheer speed and power of your hits can easily guarantee a kill in a shoot-out.
Even when fights seem to be on the back foot, the Heavy Splatling can hold its own as long as you are quick to dodge. Try maintaining fights from the center of a map to keep pressure steady instead of staying safe from the base.
You'll want your special Wave Breaker to last as long as it can in a skirmish. To maximize this, make sure not to throw it too far in the middle of a shoot-out.
