It switches between fire, ice, and lightning alignments. Dealing a certain amount of damage by exploiting its elemental weakness will pressure it and remove its current affinity. If left unchecked, it will spawn a new elemental being; once it attunes to all three elements, it will unleash Tri-Disaster.
How to Pressure and Stagger Enemies
Kujata Boss Fight Tips |
---|
|
Depending on the elemental form that Kujata takes, it will have three different weaknesses. Make sure that you have Fire, Ice, and Wind spells available so that you can pressure Kujata and prevent it from casting Tri-Disaster
If the Kujata is emitting fire from its body, use Ice. If it looks like it's emitting ice, use Fire and finally if it looks purple, use Wind.
Materia List and How to Get All Materia
By collecting regional data points, you will be able to craft a Fire and Ice Materia with Grasslands Data Points. This will save you an extra Materia slot that you can use for something else.
When Kujata isn't on an elemental form, just focus on saving ATB and don't use abilities in order for you to respond quickly with an Ability when it finally goes back to an elemental form.
With Barret's natural tankiness, plus Materia and Skills like Provoke and Lifesaver, he will be an ideal party member to bring to this fight. Having him in battle will allow you to focus down Kujata without worrying about blocking or dodging its attacks.
Make sure that your primary healer has a Healing Materia linked to Auto-Cast so that they will automatically heal Barret as soon as his HP gets low.
In case Kujata targets you instead of Barret, being at the edge of the arena will make it difficult to dodge his barrage of attacks forcing you to take unnecessary damage. Try to stay towards the center of the arena so that you have ample space to move around.
Staying in the center of the arena will also allow you to see what element it will change to before the animation plays. This is useful so that you can immediately change your Ninjutsu's element if you're using Yuffie.
Recommended Party Setup | |
---|---|
Yuffie | 【Magical DPS】 ・Doppelganger helps quickly pressure and remove Kujata's elemental forms ・Ninjutsu changes basic attack's damage Recommended Level: 35 |
Barret | 【Tank】 ・Lifesaver redirects damage to Barret ・Folio upgrades make him very tanky Recommended Level: 35 |
Tifa | 【Physical DPS / Healer】 ・Mainly used to increase stagger damage ・Doubles as healer to help Barret survive Recommended Level: 35 |
With the combination of Doppelganger, Elemental Spells, and Ninjutsus, Yuffie can easily switch between elements and quickly pressure Kujata with its weaknesses making her the ideal Main DPS for the fight.
Barret's Folios and Weapon Skills make him an amazing Tank for this battle. Considering how aggressive Kujata is, having abilities like Lifesaver to redirect damage and Provoke to draw away Kujata are very useful for this battle.
Tifa's main role is to be the Main DPS source once Kujata is staggered, but since she'll be relegated to Secondary DPS for most of the fight, she'll take on the secondary role of Healer to help support Barret.
If you prefer more healing, then you can swap Tifa with Aerith since she has a higher magic stat and MP.

The important Materias for this fight are the Magic Focus Materia linked to both Fire and Ice and Wind Materias. This lets Yuffie and her Doppelganger target down Kujata's weaknesses with powerful elemental spells.
ATB Boost is useful so that Yuffie can quickly gain ATB charges to fire off more spells.
For the flexible options, Assess is used so that you can always double-check Kujata's stats in battle while MP Up is always useful considering how many spells Yuffie will be casting. As always, you can replace these with other Materia if you want to.
Finally, Phoenix is used because it gives the highest Magic boost out of all the available summons when you reach Gongaga.

Auto-Weapon Ability and Auto-Unique Ability are used so that Barret will automatically use Lifesaver and Overcharge whenever possible.
Healing lets Barret heal himself in case of emergencies while Steadfast Block further decreases the damage he takes while blocking.
For the flexible options, HP, Vitality, and Spirit Up were chosen to increase Barret's overall tankiness, while Revival is useful in case a party member goes down.
Finally, Alexander is used because the stat boosts it gives make Barret even bulkier, helping him tank hits.
Weapon - Dragon Claws | |

ATB Boost and ATB Stagger are used because Tifa will want as many ATB charges as possible to deal a lot of burst damage once Kujata is staggered while Healing and Auto-Cast let her automatically heal Barret whenever his HP gets too low.
As for the flexible options, HP Up is used as a generally good option to increase her tankiness while Chakra lets her heal herself without needing to use MP. If you want to use different Materia instead, feel free to do so.
Finally, Ramuh is used because it gives the highest bonus to Attack out of all the summons available. However, if you don't have an INTERmission save file, then you can replace Ramuh with any other Attack-boosting Summon.

The gargantuan manifestation of nature itself, this guardian of the forest can freely manipulate its elemental affinity. |
Once you've reached the Gongaga region, you will be able to challenge Kujata in the Combat Simulator.
Remember that you can also analyze Kujata Sanctuaries to unlock lower difficulty levels in the Combat Simulator, making the fight much more manageable.

Why do you have 4x HP Up Materia on Barret's build? The max percentage you can get is 30%, the base level HP Up Materia grants 10%, that's a waste of a slot. Not to mention, after getting even just one to Max level, the others would also not add any more health. So in total, that's 3 slots wasted.
