Test 0 is an optional boss you encounter at the Beast Battleground minigame in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth). Learn how to beat Test 0, its weaknesses and resistances, a list of its moves and attack patterns, as well as tips and rewards for beating it in normal and hard mode.

How to Pressure Test 0

Attack Then Dodge When Test 0 Plays Dead

Deal damage until it plays dead Attack at close range as its laying on the ground Dodge or block its counterattack

While dealing damage to it, the Test 0 will eventually lie on the ground and play dead. Hit it with a melee attack to trigger a counterattack. The Test 0 will be pressured if you can successfully dodge or block this counterattack.

Be careful not to target them with a spell when they are lying on the ground as they will dodge spells when playing dead.

Test 0 Best Materia to Use

Exploit Fire Element Weakness

The Test 0 is weak to fire element attacks, so it is recommended to equip Fire Materia to gain Fire Spells.

You can also complement the spell with Elemental Materia to infuse your weapon and its normal attacks with the fire element.

Keep a Close Range and Watch When it Plays Dead

While dealing damage to it, the Test 0 will eventually lie on the ground and play dead. Hit it with a melee attack to trigger a counterattack. The Test 0 will be pressured if you successfully dodge or block this counterattack.

However, do not target Test 0 with spells when they are playing dead as they will be able to dodge them.

Put 1 Test 0 to Sleep When Fighting 2 of Them

At the Beast Battleground Minigame, there is a fight where you will face two Test 0's. The fight can be difficult with two enemies constantly on your heel, thwarting your attacks.

To keep this fight manageable, cast Sleep from the Binding Materia on one of the two enemies to temporarily incapacitate it before focusing on killing the other.

Apply Poison For Damage Over Time

Test 0 is vulnerable to poison so you can equip Poison Materia for its Bio Spells that apply damage over time. You can link this with the Magnify Materia as well to be able to target multiple enemies.

You can bring both Poison Materia and Binding Materia since the damage from the poison status does not cancel the sleep status.

Stack Poison to Apply Venom for Higher Damage Over Time

Once an enemy is affected by a poison status, you can target it with a Bio Spell for a second time. Stacking poison once will result in a Venom Status which deals higher damage over time. However, the duration of the status will not reset.

Details
A test subject that managed to escape from Shinra's R&D Division due to a developer's oversight. It has since acquired the faculty of speech, however stilted, by mindlessly parroting all that it hears. When its HP is low, it will play dead. While in this state, attacking it—along with blocking or evading subsequent counterstrikes—will pressure it.

You can encounter Test 0 at the Beast Battleground Minigame in the The Dustbowl of Corel Region. Test 0 will appear in the 3rd rounds of the Sylkis Cup and Prison Tourney.
