During combat, you may deal enough of a certain element or enough bleed damage to an opponent or have the same applied enough to you.
When that happens, it applies Status Effects that either hinder the affected target's movement, actions, or deals damage over time to them.
Each Status Effect have their own Accumulation Stacks independent of each other, both for you and your enemy.
This means that all of their durations are independent, and that you can potentially apply all Status Effects to a single target with enough accumulation.
Different boss-type enemies in the game will either have a resistance, weakness, or be immune to a particular effect.
This is indicated below their health bars, where one of the main 5 Status Effects will be there, along with a Shield and either arrows or an X to indicate how resistant or weak they are to that particular effect.
