Gem Effect
Tailwind ITailwind A gem that increases your agility. This is a crucial gem to have on your defenders that rely on dodging attacks instead of reducing its damage output (also often called a dodge tank).
Brimming Spirit IBrimming Spirit A defender's role is to draw aggro and survive while all its other allies deal damage to the enemy. All arts your allies use can also generate aggro and if the aggro they create becomes higher than yours, the enemy monster's target will change. Brimming Spirit will prevent this from happening by increasing the amount of aggro you generate from your arts.
Steelcleaver ISteelcleaver A simple damage buff to an attacker. A must have for any attacker or character that wishes to deal damage.
Accurate Grace IAccurate Grace Improves your character's Dexterity which in turns, increases your character's accuracy. Perfect for tougher boss fights and fighting enemies that are way higher leveled than you.
Lifebearer ILifebearer Directly increases the amount of healing your healer can do. An absolute must for any healer class.
Lifesaving Expertise ILifesaving Expertise A gem that only truly shines during tough boss fights. Not only will this gem save you during difficult situations but it will also increase (albeit in a small amount) your healing power making you stronger for the duration of that fight.
Refined Blessing IRefined Blessing A must-have gem for any character that relies on applying buffs both to that character's allies and itself.
Steady Striker ISteady Striker Perfect for Agnus classes or characters that rely on auto-attack recharge gauge type arts. Steady Striker improves your character's attack speed which will directly improve your DPS and also speed up the cooldown of your auto-attack recharge based arts.
Empowered Combo IEmpowered Combo A gem that only shines for your active character. This gem increases the amount of damage your arts that are used for attack canceling. This gem should only be used on your main character as your allies will not use any attack canceling during any battles.

Equip to Strengthen the Character's Role

Equip a gem that will further strengthen a character's specialty! Attackers can strike harder with the support of attack boosting gems and healers can easily aid their party if they can heal more HP per use from their arts. Identify your character's specialty and equip them with gems that fits their role.

Offset a Weakness

Some characters will have clear weaknesses such as low damage outputs or low durability. Offset these weakness by slotting in a gem to alleviate these issues.

Take Note of Your Chosen Leader

Comboing is a technique that is not used by AI party members. Identify the character that you will use for most of your runs and equip it with the attack canceling gem as this gem provides a percentage bonus to all your arts damage for each attack cancel.
