The latest entry in the Xenoblade franchise is said to bring together the stories of both Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, making it a direct sequel to both games. Though these games have been mostly separate stories, this game will finally tie them together.

No locations and characters from previous games have been confirmed. However, there were a few clips in the trailers that hint at some of them returning in this new title.
