Completing this quest allows you to rank up the Heavy Guard class past Rank 10, all the way up to Rank 20. However, since Lanz is a playable character, they do not instantly rank up to 20, unlike Heroes.

Acquire and discuss the topic Curious About Training Go to the Training Ground in the City Head to Centrilo Parade near Serene Square Make your way to the War Room Travel to Morrack Inlet in the Cadensia Region Head to Knife's Edge Path then to Pedesto Valley Floor Investigate the Cradle Transport at the Shelter Battle and defeat Garvel's Team Defeat Moebius H in a battle

Acquire and Discuss the Topic Curious About Training

Once you have completed the Standard Quest The Castle Beckons during Chapter 5 of the main story, you can listen to a conversation just outside Fuller Elevator on the other side of the wire fence at the Great Sword's Base in the Cadensia Region.

After listening to the conversation, you acquire the topic Curious About Training. Discuss the topic at any Rest Spot to begin the quest Side Story: Lanz.

Go to the Training Ground in the City

Once the topic has been discussed, head to the southwest corner of the City to enter the Training Ground. A cutscene will play out in this area once you arrive.

Head to Centrilo Parade near Serene Square

After watching the cutscene, make your way to Centrilo Parade, which is near Serene Square in the middle of the City. Here, Lanz will have a conversation with a street performer.

Make your way to the War Room

During the cutscene, the team will start to hear alarms blaring in the City. Head to the War Room once the cutscene has ended to talk to Monica and Travis.

Travel to Morrack Inlet in the Cadensia Region

In the War Room, the team agrees to help them liberate a cradle transport. Head back to the Great Sword's Base and use your ship to travel to Morrack Inlet to the northwest of the harbor.

Head to Knife's Edge Path then to Pedesto Valley Floor

After landing in Morrack Inlet, it is a straight path to Knife's Edge Path and Pedesto Valley Floor. Two cutscenes will occur in these landmarks that you need to watch or skip before proceeding to the next objective.

Investigate the Cradle Transport at the Shelter

Once you arrive at Pedesto Valley Floor make your way around the shelter to reach the transports. The path in the middle of the shelter is blocked by an invisible wall, so you will need to stay close to the cliff face on the right to pass.

Battle and Defeat Garvel's Team

After checking the transports, your team discovers that it was a trap. Garvel and his team appear and start a battle. They were the rivals of Lanz, Noah, and Eunie back when they were still in training. Defeat the three soldiers to progress the quest.

Defeat Moebius H in a Battle

Once Garvel's team has been defeated, Moebius H arrives for a battle. Once you defeat Moebius H, a few cutscenes will play out and the quest is complete.
